Hi everyone, well done to loosers.

Weigh-in, stayed the same. I think I have got off lightly considering. I have been eating away from home a lot plus birthdays, meaning I have not controlled my eating as well as I do when in a routine at home. However, this is life isn't it, lots of situations out of the comfort zone, eating wise. So I am going to focus on eating well on these occassions for the rest of the school hols, as would like to have lost something by September.

Bought two 5kg bags of basmati rice for a tenner in lidls, great value (been thinking about money saving again!).

    Have a good weekend :)
Healthy eating aim per day: 3 fruits, 3 or more vegetables, 3 low-fat dairy portions, 3 starch portions, 2-3 lean protein portions.
Weekly aim: to include 2 portions of fish (one oily), some nuts, seeds, beans and pulses.

    Well done you losers :T
Well done for keeping on everyone else :T

Haven't weighed for almost 2 weeks as I've had DM staying and can't really hog the bathroom before weigh-in, or run round the house naked (bathroom upstairs, scales in the kitchen as it's the only hard flooring in the house). DM goes home tomorrow so hoping to weigh in on Sunday am, provided I don't sleep in too late!

B - Chooky egg and 1/2 slice wm soldiers, the other 1/2 with marmalade
L out - lasagne, garlic bread
T - slice toast, square cheese, 4 baby tomatoes
Snax - satsuma, plum, banana, mini cornetto

empy and SpendlessKaren I have the PMcK book/cd, been on my bookshelf for over a year and I've not even read the first page :o:o. His stop smoking book worked for me so can't think why I've not read this one - unless I just enjoy my food too much ;)
  • Morning all! Here I am hot off the scales and delighted (against all the odds) to report a loss this week of one pound - that's 9st 4.5lbs!!!! I fully expected a gain after all the sinning I have been doing so am thrilled with that! A loss of any description encourages you to keep on doesn't it? Well done other losers and welcome to the newbies too!

I know what you mean sparrer about books sitting on the bookshelf unopened! I could open a shop with all the diet books I have collected over the years - the latest purchases "Neris & India's Idiot Proof Diet", and the accompanying cookbook, are there beside the Low-fat Indian cookbook, Light & Easy Cookbook, Low Fat Cooking, and many more! And I don't think I have ever used a recipe from any of them!!

We thought we were in for a quiet weekend but one phone call changed all that! Now I am expecting two of the small people to look after until mid afternoon - although chasing around after them is good exercise! Today's menu (if I can keep away from children's food!) is:

B - Scrambled egg on toasted Nimble bread, bit of thin ham & grilled tomatoes.
L - Thins tuna & salad sarnie, HM Red Pepper soup. WW fromage frais with strawberries.
D - ?Something (possibly fish) and salad & HM wedges. SF jelly, raspberries & FF vanilla yogurt.
    S - Grapes, pineapple & satsumas.

Have a good weekend everybody and, for once, the weather looks promising!

Hi! Haven't posted for a few days. 27th July was my wedding anniversary and my daughter cooked Mexican. It brought on a gallstones attack (the last two were brought on by curry, which I love but am staying away from). Anyway, doctor is sending me for a scan and am likely to need my gallbladder removing soon. Consequently have not eaten much for three days, but am going to try today. Doctor advised to stay on Mediterranean diet, and it has been so painful, that I think sticking to low fat is going to be reasonably easy.

    B: honeydew melon
    L: salad
    D: don't know

Was 9 st 11 this morning.

Karen - I track cals on an iphone app called myfitnesspal - there is also a website you can use, tried foood focus too but preferred this one.

I aim for 1200 a day and yes at first the portions did seem small but am getting used to it now. Its a faff weigh everything but its def better than trying to judge by eye. It also works out exercise calories which I then use to buy my treats or just spread up the loss!

    Lost another 1lb - 6 off, 14 to go!

    B - nutty muesli, 1% milk
    s - fruit
    L - roast veg soup
D - pasta with olives, tuna and toms

No treats today as on hol next week and saving them for then, also no run planned but maybe a walk with OH and DD.

    Morning All,

Not bad day yesterday and walked for an hour but did share a bottle with my OH last night so will count those out of my weekly 49. In the past I would have just given up but not this time.

Have friends coming tonight so food wise

B: Egg 2 slice of bacon and 2 crackeerbreads
    L: Houmus and salad
D: Making chicken breasts salad and fruity coleslaw with new potatoes.
Starter will be veg sticks with houmus

Will try and be careful with my portion sizes and will have a couple of glasses of wine which again will come out of my weekly allowance.
Also planning to walk today for an hour as well

Lost a pound this morning so 13st 4 but got to remember right at the beginning for me:D

    Good morning,

Well done all you losers! (it just does not feel right writing that)

Sparrer & Spendlesskaren- I'm now on day 2 of PM and wow what can I say, I read the book through as soon as it arrived(the new ones got colour and pictures, much nicer to read) and listened to the CD and followed the 4 golden rules, its soooooo simple and nice to have real roast potatoes cooked in Olive oil and not those dry roasted pots with a spray of frylight!
The main thing that PM talks about is recognising when you're hungry and leaving something on your plate at the end and also eating whatever you want! infact in the 90 day journal at the back of the book on the 3rd day he tells you to empty your fridge of all diet foods unless you really like them! Will keep you updated on my progress although can't weigh myself for 2 weeks which will be torture as I'm obsessed with weighing myself at least 2x a day!

    So for todays eats,

Breakfast - Porridge and a crumpet and my usual bucket of coffee

Lunch- 2x Slices of Granary bread and baked beans

Dinner- Sausage, Bacon, Egg, Wedges and baked beans

Snacks -baby sweetcorn, apple, yoghurt, satsuma and whatever else I come across.

    Have a great day

Personally I don't count calories. I find it easier to work on different aspects of my diet at different times eg. currently to get my carbs down, I have gone from 200g (a lot I know) of pasta/pots/rice etc. with a main meal, to 190g. Then I will try 180g once used to that. I find a gradual but permanant reduction is better for me.

I worked on improving my breakfasts early on, and now I find it second nature to eat a healthy breakfast. The same for eating more fruit snacks, it was hard at first, but I would miss fruit a great deal now.

I still blow it occassionaly, shy away from exercise sometimes and get disorganised, so I always seem to be working on something. It's a process as they say! :)
