hi all and welcome to the newbies.

haven't been on for a while as on holiday last week, didn't get the best of the weather in Cornwall but did get a lot of walking done - although not enough to balance out the food I ate and so I am now supporting a food baby.

Back at work today so have done the decent thing and made a sandwich! so today looks like:
    B: all bran & milk
    S: apple
    S: shops own crisps
L: ham & lettcue sandwich with small dollop of salad cream + ww yogurt
S: banana - intend to eat as driving home to stop raiding of fridge which seems to be more habit than need
D: chicken portion with new pots & salad

Have just had to buy a drink as forgot my water :( and reading it back I have to say, gosh the above is a serious amount of food!

weighed myself this morning at 10' 5 which is about a 3lb gain (forgot to write down weight at beginning of June) so would like to shift 3lbs in 4 days :rotfl: so I can remain the same - which was my personal challenge for this month.

Have only skimmed the posts for last 3 pages but everyone seems upbeat despite illness.

All the best for will power and support to you all.

    Afternoon all.

Welcome back to all the travellers, and well done on your STS Ida.

Today for me is / will be:

B - two slices granary bread with butter :o; two hard boiled eggs; apple
L - probably nothing - I had breakfast quite late and I don't usually feel hungry when it's this hot anyway
S - slice of cake and strawberries (if I'm hungry - if not I'll just have the strawberries)
D - cold roast pork with a large mixed salad; two mini onion bhajis (LO from Saturday's curry and which need eating ;)); a couple of boiled potatoes LO from last night; possibly a glass or two of wine as the bottle's open and I can't let it go off, now can I? ;)

Exercise - some gardening of the lifting and shifting variety; possibly a walk up to the shops later if the threatened thunderstorm doesn't materialise.

Have a good day, everyone, and get well soon LittleMoog.
Back after a very long break!

travellingabuela i would have been tempting by the food your GDs were eating too!

CCP it would be a crime to let the wine go to waste ;)

congrats on staying the same Ida Notion. Sorry to hear about the weather but it sounds like you had a good time in the bar in spite of it :D

littlemoog I hope you're feeling much better soon.

miz and boodle here's to getting even slimmer :)

ragz I tried out the spicy carrot and lentil soup recipe that you posted. I amended it a bit to lower the calories (replaced the milk with water, used a few sprays of spray oil instead of 2 tablespoons olive oil, used slightly more carrots and slightly less lentils). Didn't have cumin seeds in so put in a bit of curry powder instead and used 3 stockcubes to add flavour to the extra water - the 10 for 6p ones from Sainsbury's. It was still a nice, filling soup. A little spicy for me but I think that's because the chilli flakes I used are 'extra hot' and I dry fried a few too many so will adjust that next time! I have some left in the pan for our dinner tonight and some in a tub in the fridge for work lunch tomorrow :)

B: lil pincher's LO fromage frais, blueberries
L: spicy carrot and lentil soup

    plan for later:
    S: orange
D: spicy carrot and lentil soup with slice of bread
S: Sainsbury's be good red pepper hummous (129cal and 6.9g fat per 100g - anybody know a cheaper version with similar reduced cal / fat levels?) with celery, cucumber, spring onion, carrot, and red and yellow pepper crudites.

I'm having a lazy day in today as had a couple of parcels to wait in for. Have been hanging washing out, playing in the garden and am off to put clothes away now. Really must do Kinect tonight as keep dodging this!

Miss Penny Pincher Glad you tried the soup, I actually followed the recipe pretty much (unusual for me!) though I added a bit more water. I did think that was a lot of oil, next time I'll prob use my spray one as it worked for you. I used skimmed milk, felt odd putting milk in soup! Mine tastes OK though I feel it's missing something.

Ida Notion Welcome back, very well on on STS (you can't gain 4lb in a week without overeating by around 14,000 calories -- I dare you to try it one day!). Looks good for maintaining in the future, you're not overeating massively without thinking.

    CCP Happy belated birthday!

Managed my run yesterday but had to take walk breaks as it was already too hot.

    Today
Breakfast - 2 weetabix, skimmed milk and raisins.
Lunch - small portion of LO spag bol, cold. Fat Free 'Eton Mess'
    Snack - Apple
Dinner - Lentil soup. Some bread type thing.

Hi Everyone, Im another newbie that would like to join in as I need all the inspiration I can get at the moment :embarasse

I have spent the last 6 years trying to lose the weight gained while I was undiagnosed as hypothyroid. I was 17st got down to 11.5st and crept back up to 83.6kg in the meantime ...and also went metric:rotfl:

I am calorie counting using weightloss resources, cooking from scratch but also need to tighten the budget so OS is the way to go:j I hope
  • Welcome paganflossy, I am sure you will find lots of hints, tips and menu suggestions on here. Plus a friendly bunch of like-minded people to commiserate with you when you fall off the wagon now and then! I am on and off that wagon so much at the moment that it's tiring me out climbing me back on again!!

Today was going to be yet another fresh start but plans went awry! It only takes one call from my DD and I am suddenly over-run with children again! So, although I was good at breakfast and lunchtime, tea-time was a disaster!! And when DH was dishing out the ice-creams this afternoon I found myself holding my hand out with them!! Tomorow I will be back on the wagon again and really am determined to stick to my menu plans this time!

    Welcome back Ida and mlz
    Welcome paganflossy

Was going to do my Monday sneak preview but couldn't get to the scales, had the carpets cleaned and everything was in front of the kitchen cupboard where they're kept. Serves me right for not having put everything back yesterday - but at least the carpets were thoroughly dry by the time I got round to it today :D

    B Last of the pineapple
L 2 slices wm bread, 1 side with a scrape of spread, the other a scrape of lf mayo, 2 slices of breast of chicken
    D salad, skinned leg chicken
    Snacks grapes, satsuma, banana

Exercise - 1 hour at pulm rehab this morninng
  • Morning all, up bright and early and determined to be good today!! Just drinking a fruit tea instead of my morning coffee as no calories used on milk! Just been deciding on today's menu which I WILL stick to today!

B - Porridge with mixed berries (note to self to make more fruit compote to freeze in portions)
L - HM Red Pepper Soup with WW granary sandwich. WW Lemon & Lime Mousse with some strawberries.
D - Chicken fillet (marinaded in BBQ sauce) pile of salad & a few new potatoes. SF Jelly, raspberries & WW fromage frais.
    S - Grapes, cherries & satsumas.

Have a good day all, it's a beautiful start up here, just hope it lasts! Have to go in town this morning to collect my prescription (Boots needed to order it yet again as none in stock! Grr!) so will walk down for a bit of exercise. It will be the bus back though as it's almost like scaling Everest coming back up here again!)

  • Hi all,

been lurking for ages, though I would finally put my hand up and say hiya!

I've got 2.5 stone to go and have lost 4 so far. It's the home run and I've hit the wall so could use some camaraderie! I'm currently doing *cough cough* WW, without paying for it *cough cough* but no more mentions of that on here I promise! I have loads of recipes (all veggie though - sorry!) which I'd be happy to share!

My diets a bit off today as I'm going for a double root canal this afty  Have been for a run and had a bigger breakfast in case I can't eat later!

B - 2 egg omelette rolled up in a wrap with 30g low fat soft cheese with plenty of the chilli salt grinder on and a nature vally chewy trail mix bar.

    L - tin soup (maybe)

EM - who knows but probably through a straw he he

I've also been extra good today and used this morning to plan my meals for next week :A
