Best Blackberry Deal

Perhaps I am being dense, but ...
I am looking at a number of the cashback websites (and even the phone co's own websites) and am finding it very hard to identify exactly what data usage is included in different plans. As far as I can see different sites talk about , "free push pull e-mail", "free interent" ""free data usage", "free Blackberry service" and "free Blackberry data".
On some they appear to mean the same thing and on others not. Can anyone explain what the differences are. What I actually need most is free BB Messenger and a little web-browsing. I assume that if that is what I am using "free push-pull e-mail" is not really any use; or is it ??
As an example somebody in another post reported getting :-
"Orange via phoneboxmobiles: Free 9700 bold 2 24 months 400 mins
300 texts 500mb internet unlimited push email"
Am I right in thinking that this does not get me what I need if I want free Blackberry Messenger ??
The 2 networks I am currently most interested in are Orange and T-Mobile.0 -

Push email is where your email is sent straight through to your phone as soon as you receive it. Most plans come with the £5 extra on top for Blackberry services which is push email, blackberry messenger etc. This is a compulsory part of your contract with a blackberry (well as far as I know)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
If you haggle with orange you can get my deal for £25. My friend did it. Panther 40, free 9700, 1200 mins, unltd txts/internet. But that's also on 24 months..requires a lot of effort and calling to learn how orange staff work.. and a bit or manipulation. It's good fun nonetheless. I got my contract at the start if january btw, so 2 months later it must be a bit easier!
Know I asked you this on another board, d.m., but how did you or your friend get that deal? what are the things to learn about orange? and how do you get them to stop simply saying "discounts can only be applied to first 18 months, then it reverts to full price"? Had 6 conversations with them (6 different people) so far and not really getting anywhere!0 -
Been to an orange shop today to have a play with all the phones so I can decide which to upgrade too.
The sales assistant said out of all of them (bar the iphone which I wont be upgrading too) you "have to have a blackberry". Why I asked why he simply said it was the best.
However for someone that wont properly use the email function for more than 5 mins a day, goes on the internet on her phone probably twice a week would it be worth me having one?0 -
Best is a very subjective term and one a sales assistant should use with caution.
Blackberry devices are generally centred on their push email capability, though a lot of people discover the built-in Blackberry Messenger service to be a must-have, once they get used to it. For some it usurps SMS altogether as the chat service replicates the conversation style of dialogue normally used in texting. But it does require your contacts to all have a Blackberry too for it to really replace text.
Personally, I wouldn't call it an essential consumer oriented all-round device. But they do have most of the features seen in other phones like multimedia support, cameras, GPS, etc."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Thank you for that. I have heard about the messenger thing but I only know 1 other person with a blackberry.0

hmm, sounds like you should steer clear of a Blackberry then. What sort of thing do you mainly use your phone for apart (from calls and texts)?"Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

as mentioned by the above poster, other phones like iphone and andriod have a lot more functionality but at the end of the day, email is what i want to do apart from calls and texts. Blackberry phones are centred around delivering excellent email capability. I love the menu interface for email and I like the look and feel of the phone.
Prior to getting a blackberry I've had an Nokia N95 and a Google Android G1. I still recommend andriod phones to many people but I personally want to email the most. I've noticed all the new andriod phones do not have a slide keyboard like the original G1, and I don't want to wait for a motorola driod (another andriod phone with keyboard), so I've moved to blackberry. I do not get on with 100% touchscreen phones with no hard keyboard.
Blackberrys support the most popular things the other phones can do anyway like surfing the net, facebook and instant messaging on any network like gtalk or MSN.0 -
I have a look at facebook every day but not much as I work with a computer.
I want something that looks good but as I think I can see, I dont use email enough to warrant getting a BB.
I use the camera now and again and calls, thats about it really. I also need it to use abroad but I think most phones can do that these days.0 -
