As a new customer to Orange i got:

    Free Blackberry Bold 9700
    £25 a month
    18 months
    600 mins
    500 texts
    Unlimited Blackberry services
How did you get that deal, online?

Going off this thread I am tempted to move to Orange from O2, as they seem to do good offers.

I just dont fancy an Orange branded phone - on the physical phone or the phone software.

Just as an update to my message at the top of this page I have just rang O2 retentions and the best they could do for me with this phone is a 24 month contract at £30 p/m (although I should be able to downgrade by £5 after month 9) and get 600 minutes (I think) and unlimited texts and the blackberry data bundle and pay £50 for the phone!!!:( I asked for my pac code and said I would have to cancel. Just about to ring Orange but working up my courage to do it as I hate these types of phone calls and am no good at haggling!! Ive seen the number 07973 100 150 on their website for contacting them re pay monthly contracts but not sure if this applies to new contracts? Does anyone know if this is the right number and if I will get charged if I use my O2 mobile cause I can wait to use my daughters phones when they get home and ring them free if not (as they are all on orange!!). Not sure what I can quote as a good deal to to get them to match as I am a new customer but I don't know if they will respond to xxxxxxx on MSE got the same deal!!!:D I'm not sure if most of the £25 p/m contracts I've seen include e-mail and/or data??? Shoud I wait until I receive my pac code first before I ring them?
    Any advice appreciated....
    TIA

If you have a landline then call 0800 079 2000 (its free). Choose the option for sales and just ask what the best deal they can do for you. If they ask what you want tell them. If at the end of the day they dont budge. Then call back and try someone else. Its easy once you get strarted. You dont even have to mention where you have seen the deal. Just say a friend was given a deal the other day.

mmmmmmmmm rang 150 from my phone and the best they could do is as a upgrade is

    free bold 9700
    18 mths
    900 mins
    unltd text
    bb services
    @ £30 pm

rang again on the 0800 said was a new customer and they offered me the same, not impressed with that so will probably look at the 3 deal or vodafone with cashback

    I haven't rang them yet.
Think I'm going to wait till tomorrow just in case I get my pac code in the meantime!! Did you ask or they tell how much it would be over 24 months at all cause I may consider it if I can pay only £25 p/m and get the phone free!!

    TIA

no didnt ask bout 24mths contract as only wanted 18 (I have only ever had 12months contracts before so didnt want to tie in 2 years)

    the three deal is

    BlackBerry Bold 9700

With the £25 Texter Offer (VT500 PLUS with Unlimited Texts) plan, you get
    500 Minutes
Unlimited Texts BlackBerry Email & Internet Add On
Free PAYG SIM for a friend 18_month.gif

the add on is £5.00 so total is £30 per month

£62.50 quidco so works out to be £26.53 per month which is the cheapest ive found now and without having to bother with a cashback deal.

Might see if Orange can match it
  • Just an update to my two previous messages.
I received my pac code from O2 within 6 hours of asking for it (they obviously aren't bothered about keeping me as a customer!!) and I telephoned Orange after work this afternoon.
May not be the 'best' blackberry deal but I am happy with it!!!
I asked for the what they could give me and probably should have 'haggled' for more but as I don't use more than 400 minutes and texts a month I didn't see the point of asking for more. Orange wanted me to pay £50 for the phone but I managed to get the 9700 for free with 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited data/internet package over 24 months for £25 p/m.

I know some of you are getting better deals but the £25 p/m and unlimited internet etc.. were my main 'must haves' so I am happy - I would have liked a 18 month contract too but you can't win them all. I just hope I like the phone and don't get fed up with it too soon!!! Anybody else gone from an Iphone to a 9700? How did you get on? TIA.
I can't wait till Monday when it is due to be delivered.:D

    Thanks everyone for your advice...

I went from iPhone to Blackberry 9700 and it's been a weird process.

I said in another thread that the BB is much more business like but the keys are lovely for texting as opposed to the iPhone touchscreen. I have them both now, and use the iPhone for internet browsing as the BB is rubbish for it. I love everything else on it. Can't really compare them as they are different types of phone though.

    Thanks for your reply.
I must admit I was in two minds whether to get the new 3GS when my contract ran out but didn't see the point of getting it when there is not alot of difference to the 3G and I really needed to go for a cheaper contract as money is a little tight at the moment and the £10 p/m is a saving!! I know I'm going to miss the Iphone for the applications and ease of internet etc.. so I am hoping to get some money back when I recycle my Iphone and buy (or put it towards) an Ipod touch so I can use all the applications, ipod and be able to use it to surf the internet via Wifi when I am at home and can't be bothered to go on my lap top!! In what way would you say the internet browsing is rubbish? I mainly use facebook, e-bay and check my e-mails when I am out and at work - what is it like for these if you don't mind me asking?
Hope I will get used to it!!!!
BTW - Sorry this is off topic but I haven't had any experience at recycling phones but just wondered if there are any recycling places that will send your phone back to you (at a charge of course) if they can't really offer you much or anything for your phone?
    TIA

Yeah, that's a pretty good deal from 3. Let us know how you get on with Orange. I rang up the other day and they wouldn't even offer me a 9700!

The browser just seems a bit awkward compared to the iPhone. Everything is so small and zooming is such a chore rather than the actions you can do with an iPhone.
It was difficult at first because texts and e-mails on the 9700 come into one inbox, not like there is an application for e-mail on there. Facebook has it's own application, I don't use it so haven't tried it yet.

Also I'd suggest taking your iPhone to CEX if you have a store near you. For good condition ones, I got £226 for my iPhone 3g and now I got the 3gs. So that should be more than enough to get an iPod touch!

    Many thanks for your reply...:A
£226 - That was really good... Your'e phone must have been in excellent condition. I'm afraid I have dropped mine recently and although it still works ok there is no way that I will get that sort of money. The screen is perfect because I kept a screen cover on it but the edges are a little rough. I have just checked the CEX website and I have one where I live and I am also going to London with the kids over half term and there is one there too so I will definately pay them a visit if they are worth trying. I was aiming for £100 if I can and then I will either have to just put the rest myself towards a new Ipod touch 3G or if not Ill get a second hand 2G or 3G one on e-bay!!!
Yes the Iphone pinch and zoom is so easy when navigating the web and I will miss it but if I want to save money I will have to get used to it!!!
There must be a forum on the net where I can get some hints and tips before I get it?
    TIA
