I am doing a shop tomorrow and experimenting with more of your recipes the rest of the week.My boys dug their heals in tonight and added chopped up sausages to the bean curry. It increased the cost by £1.60 but I figured they needed some extra protein. They are doing physical work at present.

weezl, Would you like me to post pictures of chicken and onion plate pies? I got two meals out of your recipe: for five people.

Also I hate to be a bother but before I forget is there a survey anywhere for the chicken pies or bacon and onion suet pudding?

PS Dipped out for a few days as not feeling too good but will keep up with following your months meals as best I can. I am cooking for the family as it is so I will continue, with help.

ETA Sorry for another question but what type of dish did you use to bake you chicken and onion pie?

Not quite sure what you're saying here our Weezl?

Are you saying "forget about adding a food processor to the list" or "make it a stick blender instead"?

I'd prefer a food processor because it will make shirley's batch cooking days so much less tiring and onerous, but I will allow a stick blender as everyone elses sounds better than my ropey version :) Is that too wordy for the list C? ;)

    yes please to photos :)

surveys are coming, but potty has a very busy few days in work, so she will not have a chance to work on those til the weekend at least, but she will let us know:)

really sorry you've not been feeling too good, amazing you're managing to do all the cooking when you feel rough.

Thank you for still being willing to be part of our team:A

I used a pyrex bowl with a flat base. I think it is a 10 inch diameter one, but I can check if you like, it's in the dishwasher at the mo :rotfl:

I have just uploaded, spookily enough Frankie, a vegan rissole I tried today using the cornmeal, I found it did lead to a less sloppy mix, the cornmeal is very thirsty and after being alowed to stand for half an hour had absorbed stock and bean juices :)

I was rolling and rolling my pizza today and couldn't get it to less than an inch thick, and then it sprung back.

Pizza dough really needs a relaxer to be able to roll it out thin. here
is a site that explains it. Scroll towards the bottom. You can buy commercial relaxer but there is a recipe for home made. I need to find the ingredients.

wow, proper geekery. Used to be a programmer back in the day, but on mainframe stuff. Don't know javascript, is it easy to learn and what you write websites with?

I don't know if you could do a whole site Lesley, but I'm wondering if a piece of script could automatically pull the latest prices from mysupermarket straight into the cells on your spreadsheet when the prices go up, so the shopping lists automatically update, if that makes sense?

I know enough to know it's theoretically possible, but it depends how the mysupermarket site is storing it's data, I think...

The rissoles look nice, will have to try those at the weekend if I can and I have all the ingredients in stock. By the way, not all veggie stock cubes are vegan, some contain dairy. Which was your planned stock cube?

I have looked over what I have eaten today and if I hadn't had the calcium fortified soya milk and calcium fortified tofu, I would not of made the minimum requirement for calcium for vegans. The other foods amongst lots of other things were brocoli, kale, granary bread and houmous. I have just found out my fig rolls don't contain calcium, lookily I didn't buy them for that, just fancied them when in b & m's store! The pack said 0%, perhaps figs have to be fresh or dried but not cooked. I shall have to look into this when I get time.

So if your not intending to include a shop brand calcium fortified soya milk in the vegan plan, then I don't think you can meet all the nutritional requirements for £100 a month. Although I would love to be proved wrong! Perhaps you are going to include it, because the oats would be yuk made with water!

I have found out how to make my own diastatic malt but I can not find a uk source of powdered buttermilk. I can only think of h&b but I know there are other health food stores. Can anyone give me some names to try. h&b do not seem to have it.

not much to say, other than Susan's right in that every cornbread recipe I've ever seen has egg in it...I think it would disintegrate into a crumbly mess without a proper binder.

I was going to ask you about stock sandra! What's the cheapest vegan stock that tesco sell? Do you think marmite is a passable alternative?

Well, now you've got me wondering if I've got my calcs right, but it's a combo of the readybrek stuff, the cornmeal and a few other things that meets the 124g I was aiming for (in a 31 day month) it's here if you'd like to check my maths, I'm open to any feedback :)

yes!:D quite a good texture actually. My dad and DH both thought the texture was firm and nice, we needed the chutney though as they'd have been dry without, I'd maybe try a little more oil, subject to seeing how calorific a batch is... *wonders if Aless might do some recipecal magic*
