For anyone else trying it out. I checked after I made it and on your blog - http://weezl.wordpress.com/ you state 9oz flour for 3 oz oil I could have added another 2 oz, and to be honest, with the flour I added when having a devil of a time rolling it out (until I gave up that is) I could have added another 2...Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. i made applecurd just fine with no food processor. Used a stick blender, which is alxo great for soups. I do hummus and pates in the small container attachment of my £10 blender from argos. I don't think b&s need one, since they don't come cheap!!
Aless did yours cope ok with the skins and pips? I think you've got a really natty one, mine wouldn't have done that...
Erm what about the peanut and pumpkin seed butter?
xxx

so it's 12 oz flour to 3 oz oil?
I've just re read what you wrote and I think it's cos you're rolling it out, whereas I just squidge it to the sides of the bowl as is slightly better explained in the recipe above that.
I can change the wording to make it more like that if that would help?
as I say, I'm sorry if my scales are outI am very mindful that people are using costly ingredients to experiment here, and I'm truly sorry if this experiment and testing phase costs people money.
Perhaps I should make it clearer that I do desperately hope no-one will risk doing stuff that they can't afford to make a mistake with. I'd be mortified if I did that to anyone.

Can I ask a question about the vegan planner? I think you are going to hate me...
Ermmmm judging by the food listed at the mo I think the vegan family may be short on Vit B12. The hot oats are fortified but according to the Asda website the Asda version has 0.9microgrammes/100g ie 27ug in total which is too low for 1 person let alone 4 for a month! There doesn't seem to be too many other options on the list eg fortified soya milk / marg / yeast extract (eg Vecon stock). They'll need several portions of fortified food a day or to take daily / weekly supplements (which may be cheaper).
*... runs for cover*
PS That is a LOT of cornmeal! Why so much cornmeal?
*ducks for cover... again:rotfl: *
I believe you can make tortilla wraps with cornmeal. Cheep!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I believe you can make tortilla wraps with cornmeal. Cheep!
I have managed to reduce the cornmeal to 4kgs, so thats 1 kilo per person in the whole month, or 250g a week, so not too bad. I think it will form the basis of planner 3's veggie rissoles, and there will be tortilla and also some biscuits

here is the current vegan shopping list

At a maximum 12oz as I chucked about 4 shakes out while having trouble, I think it will be edible, in gravy if not by itself!
I used my hands for the sides of the bowl - that was clear, but found the top a bit faf so tried rolling it out as the palms of my hands weren't big enough to shape it and it fell apart under it's own weight to easily while I was trying.
The thing I'm using that I thought is a pudding basin has a diameter roughly equal to that of the lip on the bottom of one of my plates therefore when I gave up rolling it (It rolled out fine but couldn't be rotated or picked up at all) I put clingfilm on the bottom of the plate, then pushed it out to fit the top of the bowl before flipping the plate on top and peeling off the clingfilm.
I then tucked in the edges and have it ready to steam tomorrow.
With potato and some green veg?
EDIT: and don't worry, I only cook with what I have in the house anyway. I have a freezer full of my meal plan for the month if somethings inedible I've just been a little bored with it atm.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

We could call them that if it would help:
The meaty one
The one with no eggs
The one with fresh fruit (but no meat or eggs)- If you want meat you'll have to have battery eggs to afford the meat.
- If you won't use battery eggs, you'll have to go vegetarian.
- If you want fresh fruit, you'll have to go vegan to afford it.
Susan thanks for your offer of help with the cornmeal
If you have any recipes using it and particularly any thoughts about making breads/tortillas etc I'd be most interested
Tortillas I have a recipe I printed out (I haven't tried it yet but the wheat one from the same person was good) but it has disappeared from the internet so I can't link to it.
I have heard that beans and corn between them contain all the essential amino acids but don't know whether it's true.
Also, people who consume a lot of corn can suffer from pellagra unless it is soaked in lime water. (This is why pellagra used to be common in some regions of Italy and in the American South but not in Mexico.)Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
