i made applecurd just fine with no food processor. Used a stick blender, which is alxo great for soups. I do hummus and pates in the small container attachment of my £10 blender from argos. I don't think b&s need one, since they don't come cheap!!

Weezl - if you can't find anyone else, I have cornmeal so could test a recipe with it in.

The trouble is that you can only do very small quantities in the stick blender attachment which would make it take a lot longer to do if Shirley is cooking for four.

    right.

Done for the day when I take the onion tart out in about 20 mins.

I've made bacon and onion suet (thurs) , chicken and onion suet pie (fri), delia tart (sat) and HM pizza (calzone style) (today) - can you tell I'm not one for the cakes really?

I've gone a little over board as I've just been offered an interview in cardiff for an organization I've never heard of (snap cymru) :D and I'm not going to be in the mood to cook until then digging out clean copies of my cv, updating it, finding my passport and panicking that all my decent office-ware has had to be worn over the last 5 months of redundancy or I have no clothes and now looks decidedly worn!

No interviews for the last 5 months and no other replies, so wish me luck.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

    Afternoon,
I've just made my Spicy Bean Cutlets. Well the mix anyway.

    The recipe is:
    1 tin kidney beans
    1 tin baked beans (drained)
    100g onion
    100g sweetcorn
    1 tsp chilli powder
    1 tsp garam masala
    2 cloves garlic
    salt and pepper
    vegetable oil

    Method:
Dice onion and chop garlic. Fry gently in oil. Add sweetcorn. Stir in chilli powder and garam masala. Add kidney and baked beans. Mix well and season to taste. Let the mixture simmer very gently until kidney beans soften.
Then put mixture into a bowl and mash with a potato masher till the beans are generally squashed and the mix is blended together but leave some lumpy bits in for texture. Leave till cool enough to make into your cutlets.

I'll send you a couple of pictures when done weezl

I'm confused... :o Is planner 2 now no longer a veggie one? I'm not sure how this is working now at all - why have a vegan planner 3 if no 2 will contain fish (presumably?) - would a fully veggie one not be more accessable to more people (as there are far more veggies than Vegans)?

I think I'm a bit confused too Taka!

I thought planner 2 was vegetarian, but you're right I haven't checked the cheese. The reason for creating the second planner is not predominantly for vegetarians, it is for those whose non negotiable was about free-range eggs. (so I'm assuming that rennet is not a big deal, but happy to be corrected!

There is no longer any fish, since we discovered how to meet the omega 3 requirement more cheaply, and the fish couldn't earn it's place on the menu!

The vegan one is to fulfil the non-negotiable about there being a piece of FRESH fruit daily.

    Does that help?

We could call them that if it would help:

    The meaty one

    The one with no eggs

    The one with fresh fruit
    (but no meat or eggs)

Would that help? edit: if anyone does get what I'm saying, sorry I'm not good at articulating! Would you mind posting it in such a way as to make it a bit clearer, sorry folks :)

Murrell was happy with the vegan list as being true vegan though, and the veggie one only falls down on (possibly the cheese) so I think they tick those boxes too, even though noone voted for veggie or vegan as a non-negotiable, although in fairness they would have had to post it since there wasn't space to include it except as part of the 'a member of my family needs a special diet'.

Is this helping to clarify things for people?

Susan thanks for your offer of help with the cornmeal :)

If you have any recipes using it and particularly any thoughts about making breads/tortillas etc I'd be most interested :D

There may be several meat products "hidden" in otherwise vegetarian sounding foods! See here too!
    - Yoghurt and other puddings may have gelatine (derived from animal ligaments, skins, tendons, bones) eg Mu11er light yogs.
    - Worcester Sauce contains anchovies.
    - Alcohol - may have been passed through isinglass.
    - E numbers - not all of them are veggie eg E120 Conineal (a red food dye) from crushed insects.
    - medicine/vitamin capsules often have gelatine.

AFAIK we are free of all of the above on planners 2 and 3 :) Oh hang on I'll just look at the e numbers on the ready brek......

..... oh no, it's ok Murrell's list has it as ok for vegetarians :)

Murrell is asda smartprice mature cheddar ok?
