    KIT LIST
Well - I'll go ahead and amend the breadbaking tins to £1.99 each (thinking - large size ones it is).

Re the food processor v. stick blender debate. Hmm....personally..I've just not been able to get on with stick blenders and wonder how many people can. I've been checking Argos website and have found the cheapest examples of various things are:
    - hand blender = £9.99
    - mini-chopper = £12.69
    - food processor = well there is one at £24.49 (which looked a bit odd to me and aint sure about it) and an Argos Value one at £24.99.

So - I'm inclined to add in the Argos Value food processor at £24.99 to Shirley/Bob's Kit List. So I'll just nip off and do that a minute.

My Spicy Bean Cutlets were a success. I served them with 250g potatoes and 80g peas each.
Everyone seemed satisfied afterwards, though my DS12 suggested he'd happily have a piece of cake for pudding....if there was one :)
They preferred those to the other veggie burgers I made.

Is cornmeal flour-like? If so some of that in the mix may have held it together a bit better, other than that...all positive.

    So it's
    • If you want meat you'll have to have battery eggs to afford the meat.
    • If you won't use battery eggs, you'll have to go vegetarian.
    • If you want fresh fruit, you'll have to go vegan to afford it.
    :rotfl: Pretty much!

thanks for the linkies too. Is limewater just water with lime juice?

A question about wraps and so on, how do you get them so thin?

I was rolling and rolling my pizza today and couldn't get it to less than an inch thick, and then it sprung back.

With my pastry, the only time I got it thin was when I pushed to hard when rolling and could see the counter underneath.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Sorry Weezl... :o My random cheese / veggie stuff tangent wasn't really aimed at you or this thread - more in response to someone's comment that cheese is veggie. Sorry. :o

Pretty much all cheddar tends to be veggie these days (in fact I can't think of any of the ones sold in the big main Supermarkets that aren't, (branded or own brand.)) I think its cheaper for them to use veggie enzyme sources! :j :D

EDIT: Hmmmmm just had a thought... Is there any Pesto in the planner 2? (It was around at one point but I have no idea what is in planner 2 now :o). Sadly most cheeses like Parmesan/Grana P etc are not veggie which means Pesto containing them is not strictly veggie. Some veggies won't go near normal Pesto with a bargepole and will only use vegetarian friendly pesto (from a health food shop) but some less strict ones will eat it as it will contain only small levels of animal derived rennet. Personally I just do the best I can... I buy veggie pesto (or make my own) but accept that if I'm eating out / at friends that if there is pesto in something it is unlikely to be strictly veggie.

Some "Italian hard cheese" supermarket own brand parmesan style cheeses are veggie and I know Mr T stock a veggie parmesan-a-like brand but I can't remember the brand name.

PS stick blenders are usually ~£5 in Mr T /Mr S. I have a Mr S basics one I bought just before Xmas If you want me to try making different spreads with it?

    No - it's a chemical thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lime_water
    How to make it: http://www.hometrainingtools.com/article.asp?ai=1101&bhcd2=1268248205

yup no pips or seeds with the stick blender. Haven't tried peanut butter to be honest. However no worries about quantities as i got 2 mason jars of apple curd when i made it...might experiment with peanuts tomorrow.

many years ago I had a beautful Bamix stick blender and worked it to death. After I had reluctantly thrown it away, I discovered that you could have them mended - arrrrrrgggghhhhh.

I now have a very cheap stick blender, which just isn't as good, but I have successfully made nut and seed butters, peanut butter, the apple curd, hummus and loads and loads of soups with it with no problems.

Wow lesley thanks, the spreadsheet is superb :) :T:T:T:T:T

ok I just have to go and do a bit of real life now, so can I just leave people with a couple more questions:

Anyone out there good at writing javascript? (well you never know your luck!)

Anyone willing to have a go at writing any of the other mini articles listed in posts 1-3 rather as ceridwen has done with the kit list? You can start a thread to help you gather inspiration :)

    Weezl x

wow, proper geekery. Used to be a programmer back in the day, but on mainframe stuff. Don't know javascript, is it easy to learn and what you write websites with?

Not quite sure what you're saying here our Weezl?

Are you saying "forget about adding a food processor to the list" or "make it a stick blender instead"?
