Does it sound odd that I have no notion about looking at the tests our children sat? During the run up to the actual exams, when my daughter was doing practice papers, the amount of rows over 'silly mistakes' that were made were frankly unbearable and were I to see the tests and topics that we went over ad infinitum, I think I may faint.

    Hello again

My son doesn't want to look at them as he said whats done is done. Did you notice that the papers were all given a total of 64 marks. My calculation 2 papers x64 makes score out of 128 instead that ridiculous score of 145.

    1st choice BRA
    2nd choice Ballyclare High
    3rd choice Antrim Grammar
    Score 112

from what i heard the scoring wasnt quite as straight forward as that. if a child scored 100% then their score would have been 145. very complicated

Hi everyone, have been a lurker now for a very long time. Suppose I have been called a lot worse so I wont take offence lol. :rotfl:Im glad Im not the only person going a bit gaga!! Son got 106 and my first choice is Regent, then Grosvenor, Downe High. I lurch from really upbeat and positive to suicidal maybe I should drink more, if thats possible.
Must give you a laugh, I opened the door to my postman today at bout 9.10am (actually think i scared the livin daylights out of him) He stopped mid whistle as I purred "wot time will you be here on Saturday?" I think he thought I was about to make him an indecent propsal. I explained innocently that I was waiting to hear what school my son had got into. He looked mightily relieved I can tell you, anyway I then had to endure about half an hour of him telling me all about his grandaughter who came to him every Tuesday to practise her tests. He explained to me all about the education system in his day, how awful things are now, kids have it so easy nowadays, blah, blah, blah....... I swear by the time he was finished my eyes had glazed over. I hope he doesnt stop to talk to anyone on Saturday morning or it might be Sunday before I get my sons letter.
Well the moral of the story is, dont ask your postman any questions if hes over 60ish unless you have an hour or so to spare lol.

Ramble over, good luck to you all and will post on Saturday, if I survive until then:p

My Son is 106 to!! Regent 1st Choice!! Keeping everything crossed!!!
  • 112 for bra is a dead cert, I would think. I had heard months ago that BRA were taking all the first 3 quintiles and possibly top part of the 4th. Although it is not written in stone, and nothing is 100%, I would say anything from the top 90s would get a place in BRA, but sure we will know in less than two days now :-)

Welcome to Kilolima, Pushy Mum and Ardsmum.

Well I was talking to some clampet at AQE at lunchtime. Unfortunately I've been in a meeting since then and have had to forgo my priorities of being on here. :rotfl:

He told me that the papers are now on. He said that a mark scheme will follow. I asked when this would be and he said he didn't know.

I had a go at him about age standardisation, breakdown of scores etc

He basically said that the information may never be published as AQE do not see any value in it and people don't actually want it. I told him that 7000 people who paid £35 a head want it. He then went on to tell me that quintiles aren't important and they are "neither here nor there". I asked why did they have them then. He told me it was just a rough guideline. I then harped on about how I wanted to know numbers of children achieving certain scores etc.

He concluded by telling me that it didn't matter what scores other children achieved as it was all down to the criteria of the school. I told him to wake up as the criteria was all rank order so of course it matters.

He then had the gall to ask me what school my child had got into. I had to tell him that I didn't know this yet as unfortunately my telepathic abilities are as poor as AQE's communication methods.
