:rotfl:that AQE testing has led to a substantial increase in the numbers of mothers, turning to an anonymous chat forum for solace as their husbands and children just get on with life, while waiting for the outcome of school choices. Tesco is reaping in the profits due to increase in sales of wine and vodka and that postmen are taking out protection insurance incase this group of mothers physically harm them in chasing down the delivery of a couple of envelopes on Saturday morning.:rotfl:0 -

My friend's daughter in England did the 11+ but she had to get above a certain mark to get a place at a grammar school. One of the high school heads said to us on the open night that the local grammar was filling their school with what should be high school pupils by taking low grades just to get maximum students. This leaves the high school with fewer pupils and therefore less money as so much is allocated per student. This imbalance needs to be addressed.0

This is happening all over the province. For example, Larne Grammar now regularly accepts C2s and even a few Ds!0 -

I have used this forum as a place to offload MY worries and concerns, my child certainly doesn't hear anything negative about the possibility of attending high school. I am in complete agreement that there are fantastic high schools around but lets be honest here, rightly or wrongly there is very often quite the divide between grammar and high school, which is something that is out of our control. I attended grammar school but assed about in the last two years of it,(I met my now husband!) so of course, grammar schools do not automatically equal academic brilliance, but if it is in the child and they want to work, by God a grammar school will get it out of them! I certainly would not have put my daughter through this is if didn't think she was capable and the 'push' that a grammar gives was the best thing for her and I'm sure a lot on this forum would agree with that sentiment!Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
Debt free date April 2016!!!!:eek:0 -
