I am in complete agreement that there are fantastic high schools around but lets be honest here, rightly or wrongly there is very often quite the divide between grammar and high school, which is something that is out of our control. I attended grammar school but assed about in the last two years of it,(I met my now husband!) so of course, grammar schools do not automatically equal academic brilliance, but if it is in the child and they want to work, by God a grammar school will get it out of them! I certainly would not have put my daughter through this is if didn't think she was capable and the 'push' that a grammar gives was the best thing for her and I'm sure a lot on this forum would agree with that sentiment!
Absolutley perfectly said neveranymoney. I couldn't agree more!0 -

Have heard that BRA are taking well into 3rd quintile and Down High to about half way down 3rd quintile. Both just rumours & neither with any foundation.
Can't believe what AQE representative told (or rather didn't tell) you ex-spendaholic. Until the results were published I thought it had done a great job organising the tests, with the help of the schools of course. So disappointed in the AQE since. It's bad enough for this year's P7 parents & children but must be very worrying for P6 parents. I hope the grammar schools provide some statistics and cut off scores in due course.0 -
10Days, I just assumed you were female. :rotfl::rotfl:
Where have all the dads gone? StephenNI and then there was Bangor Dad, Lisburn Dad etc. They maybe just go to the pub instead of coming on here. :beer:0 -
We should torture the life out of AQE tomorrow. Give them a bit of work to do for the £245,000 they got out of us. :mad:0

Thanks Kingston, I am beyond frazzled by the whole sorry saga. This evening I belted home, got younger offspring to bed and raced to get the computer going just to get on here. It's not normal, that. I met a friend of a friend today who's son got the same score as my daughter and she isn't the least bit flustered - wish I was her. If we were to telephone the schools of our choice tomorrow, what possible reason could they give for not telling us wether our kids got in? After all, the allocations will have been offically released.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
Debt free date April 2016!!!!:eek:0 -
