Neveranymoney/Kingston - Carrick Grammar is our 1st choice and picked BHS as 2nd choice. Both schools are really top notch IMO.

Again everyone will have their own thoughts on schools. I fully expect over 100 (probably less) will be good enough for BHS but I would not get into a tizz if they 'End up' in Carrick Grammar. I have had lots of great reports on the pastoral and accademic success of Carrick Grammar - and the exam stats hold up against any school. Sorry, just felt Carrick Grammar was getting a bit of a bashing. I know everyone wants the best for their child, and I know we would be dissapointed if we did not get our 1st choice.

I suppose East Antrim is very lucky to have so many good Grammar and secondary schools. Good luck for Sat, it will all work out, you'll see!! :)

It is probably too late now but here is a link to The Sunday Times League Tables, which are published every year for the top 500 secondary/grammar schools in the UK. Quite a few are in NI and around Belfast. It makes interesting reading.

  • My daughter wants to open the envelopes herself and as she sleeps like a student - I might have to wait for her to wake up rather than the postman. On results morning, the post arrived at 8.15 and she crawled out of her bed at 10. I had promised that she could open it in her own time and I was literally sitting on the top of the stairs listening for any signs of movement so we could get the envelope opened!!

That's what the hoover is for...make noise woman!:D

Dear goodness, there is no way you could have the envelope in your hand and just "ignore" it. That would be too cruel for words.

It amazes me that girls are so bossy, my son wouldn't dream of telling me such a thing...but to be honest, my 7 year old daughter I could envisage would be that way inclined!!!

Lumen Christi is in our area and our eldest went there. It's 17 on the rankings and it does deserve the place. It is a wonderful school ....I hope to goodness the other two get there. Only thing is the sibling relationship is no help since they just take the highest marks. I hear there are legal cases every year...ooohhhh dear me.

    Morning Nutters. :rotfl::rotfl:

Well where was I? Went to bed last night and the dream involved my son being allocated to Coleraine Inst. :rotfl: I really have lost it.

So here I am in work, I've done nothing other than read this thread, check the AQE site, DENI site, Grosvenor and Methody then a quick look at UTV and BBC in case there is any news story.

The house is a mess (I'm normally a cleanaholic) and in the mornings I'm hastily ironing uniforms etc as I sat glued to this forum the whole night before. :rotfl:

I sat my son down last night and told him that really the letter on Saturday could have any name of school on it. He was very pragmatic and said he knew that and was happy to go anywhere that was on the list. I then had a bit of a rant at the OH who said as long as he gets a grammar school place then not to worry about it. He'll worry about it alright if he ends up paying Campbell fees. :rotfl:
  • Ex-Spendaholic, I am really going to miss your posts when this is all over!! You are so funny. I can totally relate to your obsessive checking of this thread etc. I am getting no work done either!
My daughter had a dream last night that her letter said she had to go to Newtownbreda. She was really upset about it. Roll on Saturday morning, when we can all start to live normal lives again - hopefully!

Stressed Mum, I reckon I'll be here for some time to come. :rotfl: Sure we might even meet at the Newtownbreda parent's night. We put it down as the secondary choice (even though we didn't actually set foot in it).

Oh dear even the children are starting to have dreams now. Our P7s are off on a school trip on Monday morning so they are all focused on that whilst their mothers go demented worrying about it.
  • :wave:Morning - I hope to drink plenty of wine tonight, block out Friday and hopefully recover in time to collect my letter on Saturday morning.:rotfl:

Don't want it to sound like she 'made' me do it. We had discussed it in advance and she wanted to be responsible for doing the opening - as she said 'I did the work and it is my result' - can't argue with that.

My parents with all my exams, 11 plus, GCSE, A'Levels did the same and I really appreciated them for allowing me to do so....though with my GCSEs my mother was sitting in a chair in my room when I woke up...gave me a bit of fright!!:rotfl:

So we are doing the same! That is why I hope Methody or whatever school 'franks' the mail as I will know without having to open the letter!!

I hope you get Methody JosieJo. I am hoping my letter will have that frank as well.
  • JosieJo, Methody definitely frank their mail, so you will be able to put your mind at ease as soon as you get it.
