I think my sort through of all my prices has helped - I sold 4 of the ones I altered yesterday (none of them priced higher than £10 but im still happy)

I noticed as I was altering, was that although I was price matched on the lowest used copy, sometime Amazon had reduced their price to below that and changing my price to reflect this seems to have made a huge difference

I've only sold one book this month :-( and that was for 1p.
But posting 2nd class cost 88p so I still have a profit of 60 something p.
Another few hundred, or thousand, like that and I'll be rich!

whilst posting yesterdays sales, the obvious happened - another book sold for £5 - will just make a profit after postage as its a hardback

I 've got the dreaded lost book...It's there is my inventory and I have the box but no book. I can only assume the spiders have eaten it  . I've told the buyer and refunded them and grovelled a lot, so fingers crossed they don't neg me.

I just know the book is going to turn up somewhere obvious as soon as I stop looking for it.

I'm going to be a buyer for a while though. One of my sons is doing a course on classic civilisation in 6th form and has a book list of all kinds of things to get in the summer holidays, so off to Amazon I go. Strangely enough the list includes I Claudius on DVD..gosh I haven't seen that for ages!

Not having any luck with my ex-library books! bought loads as they were 10p and none have sold!!

What I have learnt is too avoid books that have anything to do with Alan Tichmarks & David Dickins!! usually heavy books and lots available for 1p.

The only sales i've had sice June are childrens books which we've had for several years..

I just noticed someone complaining over on the vent board..and I think it explains why we sometimes get negative feedback on our goods for no apparent reason. I don't know how to link to the post but I'll try...

I have responded but you all know I explain myself badly sometimes, but thought I ought to defend Marketplace sellers as it is easy to get a poor reputation if buyers don't fully understand how marketplace works.

Hope you can help again .I am about to take the plunge and set up a ebay shop with my haul from the auction the other day ( all your suggestions ! ).
Now I have an shop which I have just opened ( inspired by this thread and only a week old) but it sells for example curtains. Is it best to open a new account and have ONLY books or would it be ok to mix both ( thinking of people finding me with the details in the header).
My boyfriend has an account of 130 feedback but got one negative recantily so I dont think that would be suitable.
I was thinking if I combined two things in the one shop it would save paying two £6 a month plus my new shop is not doing too well, sold nothing ! .BUT am scared that I would put people off buying any of my items and mean I would get few books sales as people would not instantily find me.
So open new book shop or combine it into the one I have- what do you suggest ? deal or no deal lol

I'd keep the one shop as you can have different 'departments' within that. I sell books alongside other items and have about 5 categories in all.
You can even send different newsletters to registered buyers depending on what category they signed up in.
