Hi guys. I hust wondered if anyone could offer some advice. I've been doing well on marketplace of late, but wanted to get rid of a couple of job lots of 20 odd books quickly cos i need the space. I've listed them on amazon auctions, but they aren't selling. The first bid is only £1 and postage is £5 (for 21 books, so not extortionate!) Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I haven't listed al the titles in the description because it will take forever, but have given a brief indication of the subjects / types of books included in each lot. One lot is a complete set of family encyclopedias (13 vols) in perfect condition - and still no interest!!!!! I'm really at a loss to know how to shift these. Any advice or should i give up and freecycle/ chuck them???

YEAH :j :T sold my first book in my Ebay shop for £8.99 plus pp which means I am in profit. You can all take credit. It was your suggestions which made me go to the auctions and buy three crates of books for £5.87 .It was your suggestion to sell on AMazon and also to open an ebay shop. ALso helping me sort out the shop details, and also auctiva and now I have sold a book in it . Im well chuffed and want to go NAH NAH NAH to my doubting, tutting boyfirend. I was doubting I was doing he right thing so this is a boost.
    THANKS EVERYONE.
PS- Its a LOT of hardworklisting all the book it took me all day yesterday just to list 11 ! and I have tons more to go.Your poor wee arms and eyes must be exhausted ! Keep up the good work.

  • Hello all, good idea to have separate threads. I haven't signed in afor a few weeks so I thought I would make a post.
My sales have slowed right down but I am still enjoying it. I'm doing a car boot sale tomorrow hopefully and I sold my scooter on ebay this week as well. Everything is on track for my 6 month career break.
Thanks as ever for all the tips and support over the last few months.

I had a sort of up and down day today.

Sold the first of 20 2-way radio sets so that's good. Sadly though it was from my main listings not my shop, so looks like I'll have to put a few more items on there with the hope people will follo through to my shop.

Amazon - quite a good day
    1. Sold 2 x External Floppy Drives
    2. Sold an InfraRed Massager

Only bad thing was that a customer thinks I'm lying to him and being dodgy because I've apparently ignored his mails. Only problem was that I was on holiday, but the holiday got extended, but I forgot to extend the Yahoo! Vacation AutoResponse thing, so there was no reply sent for those days that my hols were extended. Which is why I prefer Gmail's vacation autoresponder but that's a different issue. going to write to him tomorrow to explain.

Also, I sent a customer an incorrect product, didnt realise it was wrong as I sent it new and sealed to him, thought it was something, have store receipt saying it was something else, box is plain brown OEM so hadn't a clue. fortunatly looks like customer wants the actual item he ordered, going to leave me out of pocket but better a satisfied customer and a slight loss than an unsatisfied customer and an unsold product. I can make up the loss in about a day or so.

So I guess it all balances out really. Now if I can just sell mylaptop I'll be very, very happy and might just start throwing party streamers around, you know, the kind where you pull the string and it goes bang?

    Cheers and take care.

    Hussein.

 this had fallen onto page 2

I had two sales on Friday, which considering how poor my sales have been is great news, and I bought some books at the library this morning. One of them cost 30p and have just listed it for £17.40...!!!! Just need to wait for it to sell now! There are no new copies available and it has a relatively high ranking within Amazon (for a 6 year old book!!), so fingers crossed it may well go!!

Unfortunately, not so lucky with the other books I bought - most of them were penny books icon9.gif
