While i totally agree that some of these posts (particularly those praising this new compay) may be suspicious, i think the number of new posters to this thread is down to the fact that the company has only just gone under, and failed to pass out details, leading all us upset brides to turn to these type of sites to try to find information. I started a thread on a wedding website and added a link to this thread on that, so that may also have increased this threads profile.

You need to understand that there are alot of brides out there trying to find information to save their wedding days, and try not to be too suspicious of everyone!!

Fair enough, its just that this part of MSE suffers very badly from 'spammy' posters. As the wedding market is obviously very lucrative so companies will try almost anything to get their trade on here. Its more the posts claiming to have been 'helped' by a particular company that cause the most caution. As to people who had something bad happen to them, we will all help whether first post or 10,000th post!!

I agree Hayley - it is all becoming too good to be true with all these 'brides' popping up out of the woodwork.

I was annoyed yesterday, but today I think it is fun! How many more single one post wonders can we get on one thread? My money is on four more.... come on UK Weddings, get yourself some more user names!

Sorry, I meant, I would like to hear from some brand new users that have used UK Weddings. ;)

PS Really I am so sorry that people have been let down by the first company. Are there more constructive ways to help them?
  • First of all thank you to all that have posted serious notes about Royles. My fianc!e received the e-mail this morning from 'The UK wedding Company', and to say she is distraught would be an understatement.

Luckily we only paid an initial £400, and even through were offered a higher discount to pay it all on that day, I refused (sometimes an offer is too good to be true!), and were due to pay the next instalment this month.

Whilst some couples special days have passed, and I offer my heartfelt sympathy for them, for those that haven’t I am sure are now feeling like me.....very sceptical.

The 'UK Wedding Company' does seem to run a number of different companies, and as some of the posts hint to, whilst financial & structurally they don’t appear to be linked to Royels this does not offer much trust in them, especially in today’s economic climate when most companies are struggling to perform, making a loss on x amount of bookings to build a reputation seems strange. Has anyone actually used them? What was the quality of the work?

Whilst I have read rules about not promoting your company, I feel given this distressing situation for all the couples who know have to start again to look for new dressers/florists (us included. Can anyone recommend a dresser/florist in the Cheshire area who was good? I am in contact with our venue to obtain their preferred list (again), but would like to know of any companies who delivered great service on the day.

To be clear, I am a new user, and to be honest properly like most of the other new users, have only joined to discuss this situation and the distress caused.

Any help on companies used would be great.

    Many Thanks

    Ben

Ben, welcome. Our annoyance is not with genuine people such as yourself. Often people join sites just like this because they have a problem. It was more the 'I may be new but this xxx company is ace' we have a issue with. Can't help with Cheshire area but sure someone (with a decent post count ;) ) can. Sorry you are in this situation.

  • Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get cheap battery operated fairy lights in strings of longer than 10?

Am trying to piece my wedding back together and thought I'd start on something easy!

Cheshire is out of my area but I have spoken to some other planners in the area and they have suggested the following:

https://www.theweddingworks.co.uk - who are based in Stockport

    https://www.thevenuedresser.co.uk - based in Hyde

https://www.sccweddingsandevents.co.uk - not sure where in cheshire they're based as it was a name suggested to me.
