    A moment of sanity.......
Just to make things clear from the off I am a venue dresser but will not say who I am as I would like to use my experience to offer some advice rather than to try and cash in on this unfortuntate affair.

Firstly can anybody confirm whether receivers/administrators have been appointed and that they have indeed contacted the supplier in question? If they have I wish them luck as they will have a very busy few months ahead and applaud them for trying to make sure nobody's big day is ruined. IF they have not yet been appointed then this supplier is obviously lying and a huge data protection violation should be investigated.

I also believe that they are implying that the deposit you paid will count towards any services you take out with them. My understanding is that all they are promising is that if you pay the outstanding balance, they will provide the items listed, not necessarily to the same standard and not with the deposit "going in the pot" towards the services.

Some practical advice..... You need to be sure that you know what you want from your supplier. For everything that has been said about Royles they were experienced and provided a good level of finish. If your priority is to get all the items you wanted within budget then suppliers like those mentioned in this thread can be found but with 1/2 the budget they may not be able to work miracles. If you want to make sure that you get the same quality of work you have probably already seen then you may need to bite the bullet and start from scratch. Consider if there are any "extravagences" you may be able to cut back on to maintain the quality of the services you do keep. My main advice is to make sure you see the service you are getting in advance to avoid any shocks on the day (its a good time for that at least, Wedding fayres galore in the coming weeks). As late as this may be for some (hopefully still in time for others), deposits should be a nominal payment to reserve the date and services. There are a 100,000,001 things that can go wrong in the run up to the big day.

As stated in my previous post,NO administrator has been appointed yet,
I have spoken with the court and trading standards and they confirm
that NO instructions have been given to UKWeddingcompany to take over
    Royles contracts.
I agree with what Dandantheman is saying, be very careful who you choose to take over from Royles,
and it is very unlikely that anyone can give the service you require for 50% of the original price.

Whilst I also accept that many good companies through no fault of their own go bump, I do not
accept this in Royles case, they have been ignoring telephone messages, emails etc for months. They
obviously knew what state they were in financially and carried on taking money
from brides EVEN up to 2 days before they went bump.
They did not even bother to put a message on their website until they were embarassed into doing so
after reading all these posts, then they tried to vindicate themselves. Well it does not wash.

I came on here to let people know what had happened to Royles NOT to have so many people jump to
    their defence.
What about us, we are the ones let down, we are the ones paying out again. Save your sympathy for
the poor unsuspecting couples who have parted with their hard earned money and been so badly treated.

Dear 2010 wedding, I have no issue either way as am not using a dresser for my wedding, BUT either you are not connected with UK weddings and just done them a massive disservice or you are connected to UK weddings and just done yourself a massive disservice. If I was considering using the service, your post would put me off, to be honest, as it smacks of spam and that is never a good look.

  • Frannyann, i have nothing to do with either royles or UK Wedding,

Am on here to get advice and help and all am seeing moaning about this and moaning about that.

All this moaning does not help clients get their bookings completed.

Upsetmother is not helping by posting half truths and false information.

People should contact thier own companies and make their own minds up, not be told by ex clients who to use and is not to use.

Thank for removing your post, but of course I now look like a nutter :D

Yes, I agree people need to make their own minds up. However I do understand some people will be very emotional too.

ETA: when are you getting married, we like new members here, it helps us feel less 'bridezilla' :D

  • my wedding is at mere golf club in may, i agree that people on hear will be upset etc, but when people are trying to help brides out, i think we should be seeing what they are doing for us before we post negative comments about them before they have even helped anyone.

i hope all readers of these posts given any one willing to help the chance to proof them selfs before shooting them down

I have read back through these posts and cannot see anyone "jump to their defence". What myself, and a couple of others DID do was ask you to take down the personal information that you had posted regarding the owner that you had seen on another website. Perhaps when you calm down a little you will appreciate this was an unpleasant and uncalled for turn of events. "Witch Hunt" were the words that came to mind to be honest.

I have every sympathy for you and others who have lost money - I am a member of this site because I have very little available money and I too would be devastated had this happened to me. I really am very sorry that on the day you had arranged things did not go as planned and your venue was not dressed as you had previously arranged. However (and much as I know you will disagree) I don't mind telling you that I also have sympathy for the owner of the company who must be in a dire situation and looking at the possibility of not only losing their business but maybe their home and every other devastating affect that goes hand in hand with bankruptcy. I really don't know how this all works but I have a feeling that a company, however big or small has to continue trading until there is no other option. Horribly unfair on customers I agree.

You did the right thing in coming on here to alert others of the company closing, it was important information that customers needed to be made aware of asap but continuing as you are is helping no one. Some posters have given relevant and helpful advice which hopefully will help some of those who have future bookings. I'm sure all the board "regulars" would only be too happy to offer support and whenever possible advice to anyone left in a bad situation. Unfortunately as you are one of those who has already lost money and endured distress there is nothing that I can do except offer you my sympathy and hope that in time you will remember all the wonderful things that happened on the day and everything that did go as planned.

Marydot:TThis great understanding and sympathy you have for Royles is very touching,
as you have not been effected by them. Your made comments about my post
being removed? well who has removed Pistol99 (UKWeddingCo) posts where
they are telling everyone that they have been legally appointed to take over
Royles bookings? This post would not have 'got on your nerves' if you had
lost money. Yes we will have a wonderful day and we do not need anyone to
tell us this, but it is only fair to say that we will never forget what could have
    happened on the day.
Thank you to everyone who has given us support on this forum.

I had asked that Pistol's post be removed because he was advertising his business which is against forum rules - even posting links to his company, the forum moderators have removed all his posts on this topic.
