Bank Charges Reclaiming Guide discussion

Hi can anyone help me?
After reading the forums I'm glad to hear I can claim back charges to my account. I banked with Yorkshire Bank and I was claiming benefits. I was always being charged and their were many times I had no benefit due to charges!!! I tried to explain this to the bank but they were having none of it!!! In the end I paid off the charges and closed the account because it was ridiculous. I do not have anything with the account number on... I've only been able to use my old paypal and find the last 4 digits. I've written to Yorkshire bank with all my details including addresses and received this back:
'sorry we are unable to go any further with your request unless you have the original account number'
I've had two accounts with them all together. How can I get them to give me my account number?
Also sent my one to my partners old account - they changed the t&c to his account and started charging £1 per day for his authorized overdraft - which then took him into unauthorized overdraft for £5 per day. You can imagine how much this adds up to. Luckily we had his account number so fingers crossed!
Please advise me what I can do I'm stuck. I can't find no info only on if they refuse to give you your transactions.

Reclaiming what I'm owed - Halifax, Yorkshire Bank & Argos0 -
Hi! I'm new here and am writing firstly to give some info which may help other people in the first steps of reclaiming bank charges and secondly for some help:
1) After reading the guide on reclaiming bank charges I logged in to my Barclays account to try and access all previous bank charges from when I opened the account five years ago...no success. I then rung Barclays and I am now being sent a full list of all bank charges since my account was opened up until the present day totally free of charge, so if anybody is worried about trying to gain this information if they no longer have their old statements, don't be! (Although I don't know if other banks will oblige like Barclays have) Hurrah!
2) Most of the charges I incurred happened whilst as a student nurse living in central London (650 bursary, 400 rent, 250 left for food, travel, books, clothes, toiletries, etc etc) and so I accumulated loads of charges...how many exactly I should find out in roughly 5-7 working days according to the Barclays woman on the phone. My question is whether I can realistically claim these back as financial hardship and it's impact on my life... As a result I opened another account and now have a £1000 overdraft as well as living permanently in my £400 Barclays account overdraft.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks,

Hi update on my situation 2 posts above.... Seen as though they wouldn't give me my account number via post (or at all), i went into the branch with ID and made some story up about why i needed it any my statements... the woman found my customer number but said she could find no accounts (open or closed) linked to my name.... I've had 2 so i don't understand this. I've got my customer number now but no closer to getting my account number!!! I said i needed a list of transactions from the beginning of 2008 until i closed it in 2011. She said i can not have a list of transactions as this is longer than 6 months ago so i will need to purchase duplicate statements at £5 per page. Surely this is not right?
What can i do now?June Grocery Challange £141.00/£240

Realistically, banks very rarely refund any bank charges under financial hardship more than about 6 months old. Moreover, they only usually refund on your main current account.
Finally, you don't say if you actually qualify as being in financial hardship as opposed to simply over spending e.g. what suddenly happened that meant you had less disposable income? What priority debts had you accrued?

If you ask in branch, they will charge you for duplicate statements.

Thank you for replying. :-) Do you think they will do it without an account number and just with the customer number?

In the same situation as what your mentioning above here too... so I will not be able to get a refund as they are older than six months - I did ask each time it happened... and spoke to the manager but no help.
Throughout my charges 2008 - 2011 I was in temporary accommodation and then in homeless accommodation, and a lone parent claiming income support. I was in debt with my council tax, gas, electric and water at various periods throughout this time (i still owe some money for 2 different gas and 1 electric - finally paid the council tax and the water got cleared by a trust fund who helps people in financial hardship). We had no furniture, clothes or other essentials as the landlord we was previous renting from unlawfully kicked us out - then refused to give us our deposit back as we couldn't move our things as i hadnt been paid my benefit (they were always !!!!!!ing up!!)
Many times did I have to apply for crisis loans to cover the costs of living when bank charges had taken most of my benefit. I'd get paid £60 child tax credits - £25 of that was charges (min) so I'd have £35 for food and things with another week until i get paid my income support - by that time more charges were being stacked up such as returned fees for tv! I went in AGAIN and explained - they said there was nothing they could do so i gave them the last bit of my money £30 and closed the account!
And with my partner - he was working and a dd set up for a contract phone. He was living in his arranged overdraft when they changed the t+c so started charging £1 per day so he went into unauthorised at £5 per day. Plus returned item fee. He was made redundant from work at the same time without pay as he was an apprentice! He offered them a token payment of £1 per week as he was claiming JSA and they refused (Halifax) - debt currently stands at about £580!! His income had dropped more than £300 per month...
.?? Advice??
Already written to halifax to ask for transactions waiting to here back - just looking for advice for our case...June Grocery Challange £141.00/£240

Is it possible to claim PPI/Charges for a limited company that went in to liquidation in 2001?0

I'd have to say, 'no'.
If only because;
(1) it was twelve years ago, way beyond the six years specified in the Limitation Act
(2) the limited company doesn't exist any more0
