    Hi everyone,

Looking for a bit of advice because not actually sure that my claim for bank charges is the same as everyone else on this thread.

We pay £12.50 every month bank charges for a 'gold' account with Lloyds TSB. When I was working this was fine as we got the account for free. Upon having my second child I went to the bank and attempted to cancel the charge. I found out a few months later that I was still paying this charge so went and had a meeting with the bank manager. It turns out the reason that my account was not cancelled was because my signature did not match that on record. After some investigation it appears that when I got married (5 years earlier) they did not update my signature although they did my name?! I have since written to the bank asking them to cancel the account again and asking for compensation as it was their fault the account was not up to date. I have not heard back from them and of course they have not received my letter. I was considering rewriting and sending letter recorded delivery as I made the mistake of not keeping a copy of the last letter.

Anyone think I have any chance or can give me any advice I'd be very grateful.
Anything relating to banks, as far as I am concerned, should be sent recorded and copies kept. (Oh hindsight):rotfl:

Send your letter, ask them to refund the charges you feel should not have been taken (explaining why - again!) and ask them to close the account. Be polite but firm.

    hi,

I have had to start a DMP with Payplan and part of the debt is with Lloyds TSB for an overdraft. I am paying this off with a small amount each month as part of the DMP. I have had charges imposed because of going overdrawn trying to keep up with all the bills and was wondering if i can try to claim some of these back from Lloyds and offset this from my overdraft.

any help would really be appreciated.

Any refund would be offset against your debt.

Hi does anyone no who do i need to make a claim against for ppi charges? I have held a Burton (menswear) account on a couple of occassions, i am positive i paid ppi charges on these, unfortunately due a fire all my paperwork was destroyed so i have no details whatsoever......!
On a deifferent one i got a reply from Capital One who told me i didnt pay any ppi costs but i have no idea wether i did or not, can anything be done to confirm??
Also i held a credit card opened in 2000 but i dont no who it was with it was a gold account card and i racked up some high spending on it and paid ppi, is there any were i can find out who this was with or a list of credit companies from that date? its not on my crredit report as i checked, only the debt company who now own it as i has trouble paying, this debt has been moved a few times also, but dont pay interest now on it

thanks in advance if anyone can help on any of these :)

Is there anything here that may answer your questions?

Just remember you can't just re-claim ppi without good reason.
    Good luck

  • Hi I am a sufferer of Mental Health while everyone was getting their of Bank Charges I was recovering from a Mental Breakdown at that time I was not fully functioning as a normal person and Knew nothing of this reclaiming Lack.
When I was well enough I wrote to the Bank about my charges only to be told no and take the matter further which I did through financial hardship only to be told again no.
Time as past and I have sent my bank a letter informing that I was very ill during the dead line through my illness and wish them to look at my case again under these circumstances.
Got a call from my Bank which is Halifax and by just looking at my letter the same result was the same.
I wish to let people on this forum to know my attentions r to take this matter further and the more people I have with any simular circumstances to let me know. My illness came at a time when I was not aware what was actually existing in the community and everywhere else.Yet those who got their money when they could has made me more determined to campaign against the court of law and make them listen that we have been been seen or even in par with having money back due to hardship. thanking you for taking your time to read this and hope that my thread will encourage others to come foward with your comments

    Q. What charges can I try to reclaim?
We're talking about charges and related costs for going beyond your overdraft limit, or bounced cheques and direct debits. Traditionally these were about £35 per transaction, but can now range from around £5 up to £35.

Bank account monthly fees for packaged accounts are not part of this (but may be reclaimable under different circumstances, see the Reclaim Packaged Accounts guide). The rules are also different for credit cards, see the Credit Card Reclaiming guide. You may also want to see the Bank Charges Comparison tool to see how your bank's charges compare.

An apology from the bank, and a review of their security procedures ... and by the sounds of it a bollocking by whichever member of your family answered the call and now knows the real extent of your financial issues

As you don't seem to be happy with your current bank, why don't you ditch & switch?
