  • Does anyone have the address of halifax plc for reclaim charges
  • I love this site, Martin and the rest of the people who contribute to this site and take time to help others you guys are brilliant the templates make it easy for people with busy lifes to turn the tables on the banks and credit companies. You guys and girls are the light at the end of the tunnel :A

Anyway I have written to my bank about 2 weeks ago about ppi interest and charges on my bank account and credit cards I didnt expect nothing as someone said expectation is the mother of disappointment so expect nothing from an already unforgiving bunch of creditors. I havent heard nothing since???

Today I checked my account and have has over £500 back over 2 credit cards - most of this has been eaten by charges as I am in financial bother but none the less one small step goes along way.

I am now enquiring about the other letter i sent about ppi and bank account charges maybe they could turn up something from nothing :T

Again thanks to you lot on here the templates meant i could do a letter in 10 minutes or so. I think I should send one to barclaycard and anyone else I have had credit with I didnt even have the original charges with me, I simply explained i was suffering financial difficulty and i am a parent of 3 and explained my situation and that any money refunded could go to paying off what I owe them amazing. I wonder if I can write to the lottery and ask for all the non winning tickets I purchased as cash back:D

    Cheers P
  • I've sent Santander letter detailing a list of my chargers over 3 weeks ago. When I called up to chase progress of my letter the lady on the phone said 'because the account is closed you can't claim on charges'.

Can someone shed some light to this? Very confused!

Hey just a quick note to say don't be afraid to pursue your bank charges! My partner has just negotioated a settlement of £196 out of a total of £486 charges over 6 years from Barclays Bank. This was done under the hardship rule. They initially refused any settlement but we wrote to them a second time and they offered a 'goodwill' gesture which has gone a long way to to clear his overdraft. Thank you MSE for the advice - could not have done it without you :T

Unless I'm mistaken, there are still ZERO success stories for those claiming from Barclays. Anyone had success with them ??

Yes we have!! We just received a partial refund as a 'goodwill gesture' for bank charges which to be honest, was quite fair. We also have an outstanding claim for their 'additions plus fee' account mis-selling. They have made an offer which we have refused and it is ongoing. They are tough to get money out of but as long as follow the guidelines and use the templates set out on here, you will be OK. Rules are rules and even Barclays are not immune! Good luck :)
  • Hi Guys, I just dont know where to go from this, I have now written to LLoyds TSB twice, regarding bank charges, and financial hardship what i feel i was in, but twice they have sent a letter saying they gave me time to pay the arrears etc, they feel they are not to blame, what do i do now, write again? ask for a gesture of good will ? or write to the onbusman ? i think the ammount they owe me is quite a few thousand. any help or advice. cheers

    Not true.

If the account was closed within the claimable period (6 years or whatever), you can still claim the charges - I'm doing so with Lloyds.

They're talking out of their posterior, presumably because they're badly educated or trying to avoid paying. Claim anyway. :)

As the account is closed, the bank are quite correct in that they can refuse to accept your claim if it is made on the basis of financial hardship.

In fact any gesture of goodwill is unlikely to be offered for any reason as you have shown no goodwill to them by removing your business.

If the claim is because you allege the fees were inappropriately applied, then they should still consider your complaint ... but I can't think of any other reason for a refund.

Well when I chased up the progress on on the letter they hadn't received it. Is it worth sending another letter. I did send the last letter to their london offices.

The charges are £1100 and I could really do anything near that figure.

Thank you for your help guys.
