Exactly, they arent going for the disproportionate thing. I mentioned that the charges were £25 which is very high compared to the inconvenience causing the bank, but the person I spoke to said that they wont look into that kind of claim... They cant say whether its fair or not.0

Hi all,
Wondering if someone could be kind enough and help me out? Am new to all this and as am in extreme financial hardship i thought about using the template and sending to Lloyds Tsb.
I have done the first stage, requested for all the charges made to my two accounts from 2007 and they have send them without charging me. Now do i calculated o/draft interest, o/draft excess fee, unplanned o/d fees, and returned d/d. or just the returned d/d and unplanned o/d fees?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hi,
Today I have received a reply to my attempt to reclaim a whopping £9,321.69 from the Halifax. I first attempted to reclaim it in 2007 and in 2009/2010 finally received the standard reply which indicated that the OFT had ruled and the Halifax were not going to repay. I tried again on 05/09/2012 using the template from this site and waited for the postman to arrive, which he finally did this morning bearing a letter from a lady in Halifax Customer Services expressing her concern over what had happened, apologising for any inconvenience the Halifax may have caused me and advising me that they are not planning to repay a penny of my money.
Just to clarify the inconvenience, the Halifax contributed to me losing my home, my marriage and going bankrupt. I even sent them a detailed month by month breakdown which showed that in 2006 I was charged £532 in July and in October £586. Last year the accumulated stress resulted in a meltdown and I have not been able to work since November. I'm not beaten yet though - next step the Ombudsman and I plan to tell the whole story to any consumer affairs programme or newspaper that would like to hear how the Halifax gives the customer a little extra help!0 -
Lloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed:£1000.00
Amount they paid:£499.16
Lloyds wrote back to me and after reading the first page, thought it was a big fat NO! I turned the page and was pleasantly surprised to read that they were refunding half! I am slightly confused though, as they said they were refunding Jan/Feb 2008 and July/Aug 2008, but nothing in-between these dates. I have written back to them to query this. Still a bonus as I didn't think I would get anywhere with them!! Just waiting for a response on my PPI now :-)0 -
Not quite sure whether this would be classed as success or not considering I'e not tried reclaiming but Natwest have just paid £119 into our account as a refund for charges made, not had any correspondence about it, it's just appeared. Not gonna argue, they never charged us much over the years to start with0

Just wondering....
Are people successfully reclaiming from banks even if not in hardship?
Are people having any luck with reclaiming under hardship from Barclays?
Be good to hear.
Thanks.
I am in the process of sending Barclays a letter, as I've just received full details from Barclays regarding my charges (it took less than 2 weeks to receive this info). The charges equate to roughly £1,700.00 over a 6 year period.
I will be claiming under the financial hardship & feel I have a very strong case (as I also have Barclays Loan, Barclay Card & been with them for nearly 8 years) amongst other things.
Reading through most posts on this forum, there doesn't seem to be many / any success for Barclays customers.
I will be posting my success (I'm determined !!) but it would be nice to see somebody / anybody else post their success stories with Barclays to give me that bit of extra confidence.0 -
Bank name: Santander
Amount Reclaimed: £242
Amount they paid:£100
The story: Wrote a letter from the template on here, they responded saying no they were not going to refund the charges as they were fair. I wrote another letter again saying that before I went to the ombudsman for them to reconsider their decision as I am in financial difficulties with my debt and am entering into a DMP and I found £100 in my account so I am very pleasedDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -
Hoping for a quick settlement from halifax, had all statements, and OD charges were £1300 (around that) and interest - this takes it to £1600
Wrote letter to bank - using template - had letter back, completely irrelavent to what I wrote going on about the £1 a day charges - yet i never mentioned that as they were a godsend comparing to some months having £400+ taken.
Rang the bank - they checked the file they have the letter but the 2nd page with all charges has been scanned in as blank page.
So I offered to resend it special delievery, to ensure they would get it! they then decided they would look for the info and have asked for 14 days before I go to Financial Obsbumen,
All my money was benefits - they were leaving me below the legal living requirement so fingers crossed xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Bank:LloydsTSB
Amount claimed:£934
Amount recieved:£500 (plus £39 charges cancelled)
Time taken: 13 days!
Hi all just joined the forum to let you know that I took the advice on here and wrote to the bank stating my case. Rather embarrassingly I fell into all of the hardship categories except illness and disability.:o
I sat down worked out the charges from the point I lost my job 4 years ago (July 2008) and worked out I had paid £934 in unfair charges (that didn't include account fees or debit interest, just charges). Anyway I dropped my letter into the bank on 15th of September and on Friday just gone I got a call from the bank to tell me that can see I have been struggling and they were going to refund me £500 and cancel a £39 charge due this month!:j:T
I have just checked my online banking and they have credited the £500 :D
Not bad for an hour's work!
Just got my PPI to sort now, which unfortunately has gone to the ombudsman, but hey, I am on a roll!0 -
What address do i write to for the TSB to reclaim my bank charges. Is it just my local bank?
Thanks0
