    Hi

Just wanted to report my success in claiming unfair charges from Intelligent Finance on a current account and loan amount. The claim was for around £560 including the 8% interest. I received an offer less than a week after I sent the claim and the offer is for £418 :T. Really pleased with that so Ive signed the agreement and I am now just waiting for the cheque.

In the same time frame I received a letter to say that they have not upheld my claim for PPI, so Im now writing to the FOS. They admitted in the offer letter for my charges that the service I received was below their usual standards and I have proof from an SAR tha I was mis sold PPI. Furthermore I was made redundant and the PPI should have covered me but in numerous communications with them they never mentioned that I could claim and as a result I couldnt keep up payments whilst unemployed and got into a right mess! Wish me luck!

I complained to the FOS after HSBC sent a letter saying that they will not be refunding anything. My charges are £2000+. They then sent another letter regarding my complaint to the FOS and they are not budging at all and refuse to pay a penny. HSBC seem to be the worst at refunding a penny!
Hi need advice on claiming from hsbc, did you get any more info.where do i start?
  • Hi People.

    Just wondering....

Are people successfully reclaiming from banks even if not in hardship?

Are people having any luck with reclaiming under hardship from Barclays?

    Be good to hear.

    Thanks.
  • Hello,

I wrote to Lloyds TSB and originally claimed £505 under financial hardship, they tried to contact me a week later and then all of a sudden £80 appeared in my account. I then received a letter stating the maximum they were willing to offer was £80 and as I was not contactable by phone that day they put £80 in my account anyway.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do next?

    Thanks

    Chris

  • Hay. Reclaiming my bank charges was suggested to me by a friends the other day. I'm planning in doin both my accounts.. My current and a closed account. My closed account was with lyodds and I have only jus finished payin them off over 2years later. I went over my overdraft once via a few pound. This started a viscious circle resulting to over £1200 in debit as I couldn't afford to pay these charges therefore resulted in more charges. It then went to debt collectors n I finished payin it 3weeks ago. I'm a single mum an had a child in thi time so it really didn't help my finances payin these charges... Does anyone think it's worth going for lyodds? Do they pay out? If so hell they give me all the details as I don't use them no more.. Please help
    Kinds regards

  • Hi All,

I have recently posted the below content to barclays with a list of charges/dates, list of statment that shows the charges and a monthly household expenidure......

What do you think or the chances of me getting any refund at all? letter posted 17/07/2012

    Barclays Bank

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    Ref: Account number: XXXXXXXXXX

I am writing to request that you repay all the charges in relation to direct debits, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders that have been applied to my account in the past six years.

I believe the fact that I have been incurring bank charges goes contrary to the aims of the Lending Code (Section 9) and Banking Conduct of Business Sourcebook (section 5.1.4 ‘in particular, a firm should deal fairly with a banking customer whom it has reason to believe is in financial difficulty’). My personal situation has been affected by the charges leaving me in financial hardship and I am writing to request that you take the following grounds into consideration:

I lost my job as an Site sectary in 2008 and my partner also became made redundant the year after, due to these issues times became tough. Soon we were unable to pay the bills and moved into our overdrafts and beyond it with both accounts we have and a joint account. We then started to be hit by charges of £30 a time, which were completely unaffordable and we were trapped unable to pay them back with out getting out of the cycle we were in regarding money, even to the point where I had to contact Barclays to up my personal loan to pay my bills. My partner is still unemployed and claims job seekers allowances making all bill payments very hard to keep up with, these include getting behind and in arrears with our rent, council tax, water gas and electric. Due to this I have recently had to contact you (Barclays) to seek advice regarding my personal loan explaining that I can not afford the monthly payments and can not afford anymore charges regarding my account. Due to this Barclays gave me a resolve loan stretching the payments over 10 years to witch I am still struggling to pay.

We have both also joined debt management plans to be financial difficulties.

As you can see below are just a few issues I have and would be very grateful in the return of the monies.

    · Can’t pay for necessities - struggling to meet basic necessities e.g. rent, council tax, food, utility bills, debt, often resulting in high arrears
    · Can’t pay debts - struggling to make loan and credit card repayments even when in a debt management plans
    · Payments regularly returned - payments regularly get returned unpaid as not enough money in our accounts
    · Substantial drop in income - For example partner has become jobless claiming job seekers allowance since 2009 and myself contracting my work load unable to obtain a permanent job.
    · Going into debt management - Getting a debt management plan including Barclays resolve loan
    · Living off credit. Regularly asking creditors to increase my credit limit or to obtain new credit, always resulting in the answer ‘no’
    · Regular credit card cash withdrawals. using regular cash withdrawals from credit cards to make ends meet, including high interest pay day loans.
    · The charges are disproportionate. Unintentionally slipping over my limit by a few pounds and the charge is a lot higher than the ‘offence’ e.g. going £1 over but been charged £30.
    · Were stuck in a cycle of charges.

The charges total £1100.00 and I ask that you repay me the full amount.

Plus as I believe I have been unfairly deprived of the money I have calculated £377.55 interest at the statutory rate, the amount a court would award and I ask that this be added to my claim to give a total of £1461.55

I have attached a full schedule of the charges with this document and also my monthly expenditure.

I look forward to a full response to this letter within 14 days and if I do not receive a satisfactory response I intend to pursue my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service or small claims court at the earliest opportunity.
I look forward to your response.

    Yours faithfully,

    Faye

    Just received a letter from the TSB it states;

We would like to let you know we have considered the circumstances you raised.
Having reviewed how your account has been managed, we are unable to refund all the bank charges you have requested.

To support you with your financial situation, for account XXXXXXXX, we will be refunding £280.00 and waiving a further £10.00 in charges that were due to be applied. This is for all the charges incurred since April 2011 to present date.

You have also mentioned you were charged as a result of I h

The story: Forced into my unplanned overdraft by an unauthorised transaction in May. I didn't have any money to transfer to correct the problem so was incurring £10 a day charges which were taken from my account in June, sending me back into my unplanned overdraft. Sent out my first letter on July 14th and had the money paid back into my account on July 20th.

Happy to the take the £80 :)
