Yeah, I'm similar, I can't afford a dress, but I can afford to browse the shops with a friend, including lunch out, and a magazine, and some chocolate and some gum etc.

Ah well, I've started being more conscious, and I guess now, I can be fully aware, because I'll have to come and tell you lot :rotfl:

  • Hiya Zar zar...and welcome!! We are all guilty of spending our money on useless stuff instead of the better purchases., IYSWIM? I've been in debt 3 times due to my shopping addiction and each time i've had someone to bail me out to the tune of £15,000 but this time i've learned the hard way-bloke as wonderful as he is has made sure i pay my debts of-with no help from him...if i truly need and sometimes if i just need cheering up he will buy stuff for me...Most of the time i've bought loads of stuff of 'Flea-bay' (CL i'm knicking that-i laughed so much reading that:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) and it's all complete tosh,mis-discribed and falling apart...

It's only NOW that i am not allowed on ebay via my pc(bloke has set up parental controls and banned it with a computer generated password) that i can see how bad i truly am(not was yet as i still crave the buying) I worked out that in one month i was spending about £1,000 on ebay(on a bad month) and what do i have to show for it? several bags gone to the charity shop, stuff passed on to relatives, some sold on for a fraction of the price and some binned:mad: and that was a monthly occurance-everyday i receive parcels from the postman and delivery vans come daily...i had nothing today:eek: and this is the first time in about 7 years( I AM NOT EXXAGERATING) when i used to go on holiday and come back we would have to collect 5 parcel bags full:o:o it's truly embaressing and only now do i realise how bad it all is/was.

Little chicken- awwww pants about your job but good for you in beleiving it happens for a reason, i'm of the same view point too...fingers crossed for you on the job hunt!

Morocha-hope AF calms down and it's not effecting you for the whole week i'm coming to the end of mine and it's been the worse one in a long time-stress related maybe?

Salesaddict- hope you are ok, how's your dad?

I've had my makeover :rotfl: :o and to be honest everyone is throwing compliments at me:cool: bloke is loving it;) PMSL! i've had an angled bob, but not like V.Beckhams....it's a bit more 'indie' as that's what i'm into...Bloke also brought me a pencil skirt from M&S at the weekend-an early mothers day present...now all i need is some nice shoes...lol! being a size 9-10 i don't seem to find much i like anywhere and live in converse and slouchy boots...

Had a few NSDs recently and as soon as i've had a bit of cash i've paid it off my debts...
got my Next one down to £160 (it was £500 last week!) and totally cleared my council tax arrears for my old house. so now all that's left is about £2,100 i will be debt free by July apparently-can't wait!

in other news:D i won a holiday on the pick me up website!!! :j only a week at pontins for the 4 of us, but i've NEVER had 3 holidays in a year lol... i'm not V.beckham after all:rotfl:

NGLADY- as blow out goes that wasn't too bad, poor you and your head though :(:( totally understand that you needed to do it...hope is went as well as can be expected...it's there loss isn't it:p xxx

how are you all today? Everyone seems to be going great guns!
Hoping to of finally learned my lesson...slowly but surely
  • Had another non-spend day as felt too ill to go out, seem to have a bug, feel very sick and have headache. At least it's kept me from spending. OH has bought me the Gok book for Mother's day.

Well i'm over my hangover now, I purposely kept the wine bottles on my bed side table for the day just to keep reminding myself what a fool I was. Now ive been out, got a nice something for tea and im going to feel happier.

I brought Gok yesterday (Is it just me or is Gok a very sexy man!?!) And im going to digest a bit of that, and hopefully gok my wardrobe over the next week, Its important really to do it whilst ive got the house to myself. I can spread things out in the other two bedrooms and when ive had enough, shut it away and go back to it later, whereas normally itd all be in my room and id get fed up and end up just putting it all back :D

Feeling quite sick today so not going to eat a normal meal - ive brought myself a lovely fresh french stick and some chicken for tea, hopefully that wont upset my stomach too much :( lol. Also, brought another Easter Egg (Baileys one, a fiver from "thasda") a couple of glossies (£2.60 for something ill just browse :S) my chicken at £2 french stick at £0.38 Orange juice £1 milk £.50 and Beans £1
isnt it crazy how it adds up.

Im probably quite a bit younger than a lot of you, but in a way im glad i've been shocked into noticing how much money I actually do spend before I get into any serious troubles, so its a lesson to be learnt at my age. My sister whose 30 scared me the other day and told me at 22 she brought her house :O how very grown up :S I wont be able to do that until im about 32 nowdays with inflation etc :O

Anyway enough (Probably slightly still tipsy) rambelings from me :)

Wow Velocity, I think my Mum might be similar to you, not as extreme, but at least once a week something will arrive in the post for her.

Its good that you've got such a nice blokey, who is helping, but with a firm hand, and not just bailing you out.

I wish you all the best!

I've not purchased anything today guys, I set off at 11am this morning for the drive back home from my boyfriends (63 miles ) and nearly popped into the sainsburys near his house to get a magazine and a coke, but decided against this, as I had a bottle of water in the car already. :T

    Hope you're all alright

NGlady, glad you're feeling better, I was similar 2 weeks ago, went to the pub with my boyfriend and some of my friends, my wine glass kept getting topped up without me asking, AND I was knocking back the vodka like it was going out of fashion, I was at work all day the following day and I was sick TWICE whilst at work, manager asked if I wanted to go home, but I'd have lost a days pay, and I wanted to teach myself a lesson haha.

    Hi all

Lynzpower, I was reading your post and your comments about internal dialogues. My shopping isn't about stockpiling as much as fearing I'll be missing out.

I get the 'finding that special item or person or experience in case I run out of time and be too old'.

I've always had that feeling since I was small.

In recent years I've also discovered that I started doing the reverse e.g. procrastinating excessively on anything important and leaving it until the last possible moment then rushing around.

Anyone else have the fear of missing out?

ALL of that is me. SPOT ON!

    Hi all

I was just about to reply to the posts and suddenly when I press the reply button I spot there have been loads that weren't there a few seconds ago - now that is really weird, unless I missed out a page of reading. So I've completely forgotten what I was going to say to everyone LOL

    Hello to zar zar :)

I've come up with a strategy for being up the shops and avoiding browsing and buying on a Tuesday when I go to my craft club. Straight afterwards I spend ages in the library as well as taking out some very heavy books that would be upleasant to drag round the shops, then I have to walk really fast to get home as I always watch Doctors :)

It's amazing the lengths we have to go, to stop the dreaded impulse buying. Will catch up tomorrow as it's time for Shameless.

I'm currently on page 16 of this thread because I want to read the whole thing through!

-I'm definitely a crisp addict, when you lot were all chatting about the crisps etc I went and got a pack of salt and vinegar out of the cupboard, although prawn cocktail coupled with tuna sandwiches are my favourite, I may start preparing these for work, because I never take in packed lunch, I ALWAYS buy lunch, usually from KFC

-I need to do a serious stock check on my wardrobe and cupboards and drawers.
I'm moving out of my parents place in 3 weeks and need to do all of this, I've got numerous xmas presents I bought and never gave away that I can put on eBay and various bits and bobs, my shopping problem isn't so much clothes, mainly just CARP.
Although I am guilty of buying something and then never ever wearing it.
So stock check to come within the next week or so, it will take more than a day though, the amount of stuff I've crammed into this bedroom!

-Almost a NSD today, only spend was £5 on a dvd for my boyfriends birthday, which is in 2 weeks time, it's not bad really as its a full season of a show he loves.

-I'm going to *gasp* leave the debit cards at home tomorrow, and take a few quid out of my change tin, 4-5 quid max, and have that as my 'wasting' money, although obviously, if I don't spend some/all of it, I'll put it back in the change pot.

-I'm going to get organised, you've all motivated me, so much, I came back to these boards yesterday looking for some motivation, and found it here, so thank you guys! :T
Tomorrow I plan to get up at a reasonable time (Sometimes its hard to make myself get up early, because I'm not at college until 1pm most days), I always feel better if I get up, shower, coffee, eat, chill out for a bit first though.

I'll keep you all up to date on spending/when I do my stock check etc :D
    Thanks guys!
