EJ - I don't tend to have the ones with the Chillies, they do a beautiful mango and lime coating and that is absoloutly to die for in a pitta bread!

    Its a small world :)

Lol I don't really know the right term :S So we shall go with thredding ;)

Ooo have you been to Meadowhall in the last week or so? Have you been to the new Oasis, I can't wait to see it :O its merged with Warehouse hasnt it :O
Learning to be 'good with money'
  • LOL there's a VERY good reason I refer to it as Netherhell....

The last time I went in was a month before Xmas with SIL (first time of meeting her... scary), MIL who has since been very poorly but luckily is on the mend and my OH who is agoraphobic and has a phobia of crowds.....

It is too big and I hate not having the money for most shops and resenting the prices they make you pay. I spent far too much at Primani there and was charged exorbitant amounts for coffees and cakes as we shopped...

I love the idea of Meadowhall, but hate the reality. I usually get on the tram and pop to Carbrook to Hobbycraft there, then on to Cineworld and Flaming Dragon (all you can eat chineese.... omg food heaven!)...

The best thing I find about Meadowhall (which I didn't get a chance to see this time round) is the small stalls in the Oasis... But again, I hate the overpricing due to the rents businesses are charged...

Meh, I'm just an overspending skinflint lol...

Hi all, nice to read all your posts and see what you've been up to.

Back from the dentist, will be deffo losing weight as can hardly eat and won't get properly treated for 2 weeks when the abcess goes down, been given antibiotics straight from him so didn't go to the chemist and get side tracked.. So no money spent apart from x-ray and few necessary bits in Co-op. I was told the treatment will be costing either £75 or £275 depending on the outcome.

I've also seen that flower fairs craft mag ejbg, but talked myself out as I've already got lots of FF stuff and never used it. Re that £25 offer, from my experience, the novelty will soon wear off and you will be desperate to buy something else next time you see another good offer. (or another craft mag or stash)

Someone mentioned joining other threads for cleaning etc. I run 4 to-do list threads on an American site(daily lists, finances, health and fitness and personal challenge) so probably not a good idea to join any more :)

I spent last night on my wardrobe. the amount of t-shirts and sleeveless tops! I could set up a market stall with that lot!

Today I bought a 6 pack of teddy crisps - anyone else like them?

OOh Pombar teddy crisps! They're great. Used to eat them on the beach in my previous life as a rep!

  • Anglea: hope your mouth is feeling better soon... if anything, be grateful that the crisps won't seem so appealing while you have a poorly mouth. I hate the dentist... I'm currently awaiting referral to a specialist.

ejbg2001: Glad to see you've talked yourself out of the crafting offer. I know crafting stuff is addictive... but for what it's worth, I don't think your shopping was too bad apart from the £8 spent on magazines.

I like reading what people have spent so keep posting :)

I'm still not sure what to do with the boots (the ones that fit) - they're quite nice and my only other pair are wreck so might make do with them until I find something better. Not sure if I suit ankle boots though or if they make my legs look even longer :S

I was watching Gok Wan last night and he was creating a capsule wardrobe for this woman... seemed like a really good idea. He made her so many different outfits out of 24 items -- amazing!

Definitely think good quality basics are the way to go. Plus I really need to start dressing more grown up. Right now I dress like a 16yr old, people always think I am a lot younger than I actually am! I dunno how because I don't have a young looking face so it must be my dress sense (or lack of).

Tomorrow will be difficult but fun, haven't been shopping properly with my mum for about five weeks (we're going into the city rather than our rubbishly little town) - lots to return though so at least any shopping I do will be money neutral. But yeah, I'm going to actually withdraw £50 in cash and not use my cards... let's see if I can stick with it! The main thing I want is a huuuuge bag, but not really sure where to look? I like decent quality bags but don't really want to pay more than £30-ish.

Hi Completelylost, if you need the boots you might as well keep them. But you probably already know that you're unlikely to stop there, and the next time you see more nice boots you'll be tempted. However, you won't need anymore - will you?;)

I watched GW in a previous series and he used much less than 24 items, 6 I thought - unless it was a different person altogether!

Ankle boots -I always used to buy them instead of longer ones. The only thing may be that you feel more self-conscious if you aren't used to them at first.

Large bags - I saw some big ones in Factory something (forgot the name). The one that sells all different well known brands at cheaper prices.

The 5 items I did put on Ebay are not selling, but i have got a lovely swap this evening :)

Ebay is expensive to sell on. Listing fees, a % of the selling price and paypal fees:(

Oasis bags are lovely. I always see them in Debenhams but can never quite convince myself that they're worth it. I do want something nice so am happy to pay a bit extra - my current bag was £40 (raspberry faux leather) but I wore it every day for 18 months and it is hashed to pieces! Definitely got my money's worth. I have a ton of cotton shopper-style bags I could use but I've gone right off them :S Will have a look in Accessorize too - will have to close my eyes when I pass all the pretty jewellery so I won't be tempted :o

Well, looks like the boots have made the decision for me! I've just tried on the right foot and it's absolutely tiny, like a full size smaller than the left one (and it's definitely not my dodgy feet - I got my mum to try them and she said exactly the same) so I'll be returning them, not sure if I'll reorder!

But you're right :o:p As soon as I see something better I'll want them too.. argh.

Ooh and as for Pombear crisps (or whatever they're called), I love them. Though they're a bit like Quavers in that I could eat several packets of them with ease.

Right, I'm off now - gonna have an early night as will be up early tomorrow for shopping and stuff! G'night xxx
