    Evening ladies -

Well CL I hope that you used the 20% discount offer thats on at the minute!

Im doing a little clever shopping - you ready to be confused girls.

I have purchased from Dorothy perkins a:
    • £39.50 dress
    • £40 blazer
    • £39.50 dress
Ok dorothy perkins are offering a 25% discount at the minute - so this goes down to £89.25 (Which is effectively, one of the dresses for £9.50)

Dorothy perkins have also got another promotion at the minute - whereby if you buy a £30 gift voucher - they give you an extra £5 for freeeeee.

So - I purchased two of these 'offer' vouchers today.

So I am going to therefore have an extra £10 off the 'shopping' - so the total price is £79.25 ... giving me a free dress!!

    impressed?!

See - by doing a little 'clever' and 'imaginative' shopping - you can really get 'freebies' :D I do feel sorry for the stores that I have to return stuff to, to do it, because I found out it gets took out their sales target - but u know what, im sorry, it's not my problem :)
  • LOL, I like your failed attempt at being sympathetic to the shop assistants.
I didn't know that about the returns though... :S

How do you get the 20% from New Look? Is it in the magazine or something? I feel shocked that I've missed a discount code! Totally unlike me.

PS: is it sad that I totally understood everything in your post? :P

CL - you've really disappointed me ;) not knowing there was a discount code for Newlook. Tut tut ;)

Nah only joking.. its available either:
    • On facebook - join their group, join dotty p's too - they let you know stuff such as the VIP week theyve got at the moment.
    • In a instore magazine.
No I don't think its sad in the slightest, we have to put a lot of time/effort/training (shopping!) into getting this good with bargains - so congratulations on understanding the litreature ;)

I'm thinking of volonteering to work for child line - I deal with customers on a day to day basis, so I do have a 'ability' to work on the phone etc etc - and I just feel it would be such a rewarding job. however I am debating in my head whether I am mentally strong enough to do the role to the best it could be.
  • Thank you for the voucher info :D Just printed a few off! Will return the coat & cardie, and rebuy at the cheaper price. Will save me £9... better in my pocket than theirs, eh!

I had an unusual burst of energy, so I used it wisely - dusted & hoovered, took some photos for ebay, dishes done, rubbish put out, bed made... and it's not even 2pm! :S I even surprised myself.

The Childline volunteering sounds really worthwhile, especially if you're a good talker. I agree though, if you're the sort of person who is easily upset I imagine it would be difficult to forget some of the things you'll hear :( But at the same time, you've got to remember that without your help things would be worse for them. It sounds like a fab thing to do though.

    Hi girls

I'm pretty shocked the fact that I actually understood NGlady's advice re the vouchers and cards :)

Like the cardie CL, I was in New Look on Saturday and think I can remember it.

Volunteer phone work - The one I trained with (about children but not the same one as you) I found that my obvious questions about bad situations were being deflected. Finally I discovered that a majority of calls would mean me referring people to social services or even the police!

I decided the responsibility would be too great.

if you imagine the worst kind of things you've read in the papers, could you deal with it if someone told you? It can haunt you.

CL There's a lot you don't know about me ;) I don't talk about everything on here, although I've wanted to, you never know who could be reading.

Ziggles what happened about your latest date with FB?

So true you never know who's reading..
So i've moved. Still a few things left to pick up but i'm feeling more relaxed already. Yesterday the gas ran out during my shower and the one who shall not be named didn't bother topping up- just decamped to a friend's i think- i came in at 11pm to find a note saying she hadn't been paid and i should go to my Dad's! I shall not miss all that- i hope she gives me the rest of my deposit on Tuesday.:(
I am surprised to say i also understood the voucher, free dress thing! Pity i can't take advantage of it.:p
No date with FB yet- too busy. Not seeing him til wednesday. Can't wait;)

    Hi all

Just realised that it was 2 weeks ago that I told you I'd spoken to Bym, well he's abroad yet again, and not due back for 3 weeks - or maybe not until December! I'm ok with that, well what choice do I have?

Strange conversation with Beau where he told me once again that he loved me, but as that was coupled with the fact that he once again said he has no money I took it with a pinch of salt. It was never going to work.

Spoke to 'the Muse' on Friday, I sent a text to him just saying that it was almost midnight and that I was missing him and he replied to it saying 'I've changed my phone, please sign text'. !!! I replied saying 'and there was me thinking I was your one and only! (and adding my name)' his next text just said 'hugs xxx'

Just to confirm, before I met 'the muse' he said he was not ready for a relationship, and we are just 'friends'

Moneywise - I have tried to be so careful this month but it is not reflected in the amount I have spent, and I write everything down. Not bought any clothes since the ones for my holidays. I'll probably not buy anymore this year. The furniture was paid from my savings as were my holidays.

  • Afternoon,

Don't worry Anglea, I wasn't asking or expecting you to divulge any details. I too worry about who reads this forum... hence I've had a few different usernames on this forum alone.

I'm off to the cinema tonight - free preview tickets of course. Will probably buy some sweets or something at the supermarket beforehand. I've totted up my spends for October and they come to £315 :S But that does include several driving lessons... so it isn't as bad as it sounds.

How have the rest of you done?
Ziggles, I'm glad to read that you have moved. I bet you feel relieved! She did sound like a nightmare to live with... with no regard for anyone else's feelings.

    Hi all

CL, I remember you mentioned having to change names in the past.

You never guess what? I bought 2 items today that actually fit :) That reminds me of something, challenge time.

CL how does 315 compare to the time before you driving lessons I wonder?

What are you going to watch today?

You've reminded me that I still haven't caught up with my updating. I'm months out.

FR - I hope one day you find a decent bloke that is around for you.
