  • NG, do not sell the phone to Cash Converters. They're nasty in there.

Try online via Envirofone, where I've never had any problems at all. Compare prices first though; see what Mazumamobile will offer you.

If you want to try on the high street, try CEX.

Bought too much stuff the last few days. Got an amazing pair of super skinny jeans mismarked down from £40 to £10.90 which I was so lucky to find. They are so tight, they make my other skinny jeans look baggy. LOVE them.

Moving out of this pit next Tuesday into my permanent (for now!) place which I can't wait for...got SO much to do when I get there though as I still think I have too much stuff and have not only bought more since then but also have more coming as I have been told I should be given a laptop and stuff because I'm disabled, for uni as I only have a tiny netbook to work with. Still waiting for official confirmation as I had an assessment and was given a list of things they're giving me but it has to be officially approved for funding by student finance first who I've formally complained to about something else and am waiting for a reply.

Just want to be settled as I've been living out of suitcases for months and months and just want access to all my things whenever I want it. Going to get all the unpacking done properly so I can declutter even more along the way and really know what I have and where it is, etc. A very daunting task.

And then as soon as I know what the uni timetables are, I'll be able to look for alternative/extra employment as I have decided to work full time on top as the student loan doesn't cover enough and I need to save....want to have £5K-£10K stashed really as a starting point.
  • Evening,

Finally got my butt into gear and hoovered practicallyt the whole house. I should probably have cleaned first, but wasn't in the mood for it. I never do things in the right order, just do them when it takes my fancy.

Anyway, no spends for the past couple of days :) Going to the shop to get something for tea as I literally have half a loaf in the house, and have had enough toast in the past few days to last me a lifetime.

NG - a good one for recycling phones is Fonebank. You can also get cashback. Also well done on not spending, your new man seems to be a good distraction from shopping :D

FE - good luck with the move. I've moved once in my lifetime and hope I don't have to experience it again anytime soon :o

I stumbled upon this thread this morning and after reading loads of it I decided to post.

A lot of it definitely rings true about the toiletries, beauty products, clothes etc. I did really well during my Uni days and never hit my overdraft once. Then as soon as I graduated I just suddenly started using it. I don't actually know why. The thing is too I sell on Ebay and since 2004 I have made a few thousand selling off various bits and pieces but I can honestly say I have no clue where the money has gone, so I was looking on here and think I'm going to use a spending diary to see where my money goes and stop me dipping into my overdraft each month. I'm also a collector of a well known child's toy. I've just decided it's all got a bit silly now, my need to collect these stems from childhood and I've also been reading the Spendsmart book by the people who do Spendaholics on BBC3. It's well worth a read. Determined to crack this overspending as I really want to buy my own house. Hope you don't mind me posting so late in the thread but I've only just found it and think it's brilliant. Definitely going to try the no new cosmetics/products thing :)

Hi Koolkaci and welcome to this thread :) Of course you can join in!

I can relate to you re childhood nostalgia. This weekend I bought a large beautiful hardback of Wind in the Willows mainly because of the map on the cover. I am very attracted by illustrated books and often buy them.

Hope that listing your spends will make you aware where the money is going. At least with your collecting, you will probably see a return far more than on toiletries or whatever else you buy.

FE, I hope you get to your permanant place soon and your fincances are sorted.

CL - I bet the house looks nice.
  • Hi hii,

welcome koolkaci. I used to be the same with collecting things... I had so many stuffed animals it was getting ridiculous. I sometimes forget I'm an adult, I need to stop buying cutesy stuff! It all ends up as clutter after all - most of it is of no real use, just decorative.

Well well, yesterday my spends were <£5, which is good. All I did was run some errands for a relative (and they gae me £20), got a refund on some boots, and errr... that's it really!

Also got a few products to test in the post. This week has been good for moneymaking too - £50 from yougov, £25 from pureprofile, £15 matched bets & £10 tns. My amazon voucher stash is mounting up quite nicely.

Hmm, I have something that's well past its return date but they're still in the shop, so I might go and see if they'll give me vouchers or an exchange. It's not a very upmarket shop so I hope they're not awkward about it.

What are the rest of you up to? Any naughties to declare? xx

    Hey all :)

Just a very quick hello from me. I don't seem to get time to come on here as much anymore, which I find quite sad as I really enjoy talking to you my MSE friends :) I have had a real change in attitude because of you girls, as you will be reading below. I really need to start making more of an effort to come say hello again :)

    Welll.....

Hey CL :) That's really good about the money making, I wouldn't have a clue how to make money online, or rather I should say I dont have the patience to learn lol.

I dont really have many naughties to declare of late, expect there will be some this weekend though as i've been made a lot more than i expected.. yay. Think I wrote about my last weekends spends, but Saturday I paid £55 to have my hair done, which is quite a lot of money but she did it so fantastically I was suprised how little it was, was expecting her to be asking for £80 as she was a top stylist in London, I was going to give her a tip then I remembered part of the convo her telling me how much money she made i nthe London property market and I thought ah you no need it!! Sunday all I spent was a bit of money on the travel bottles.

Last night, me and DEman went to Asda pmsl. I tried a dress on I was very tempted by, but I figured my wardrobe is set to explode and its not even wooden so do I really need another cheap dress to clutter that I wont wear until next summer now. I decided against it.

Omg has anybody else ever seen a maccy d's in Asdas before?

Oh I want so much more time to finish my reply just seen the clock though - but I shall be back this evening :D

    Hey Angela :)
