alexandrajf wrote: »LOL ziggles. Well I am a huge fan of fasting for health reasons. I have used it off and on throughout my life. I have not done it in 5 years, however. I am starting a juice fast tomorrow (which is very safe). I have a Breville juicer at home. I am going to do apple+carrot, orange+carrot, and other juice like that, mixed at 50% water. In the past when I have done this, I have lost about a half a kilo per day and felt amazing. To those who are wondering if the weight comes back on after a fast... YES, IF you eat all the kinds of junk that caused you to gain weight in the first place. NO, if you eat healthy. I am overweight because I was depressed for 3 years and didn't take care of myself. I ate anything I wanted and did not exercise. I am paying the price now with extra weight and zero energy.
Since I do not cook (I don't know how!!), I end up spending at least £10 per day on food. sound crazy?? Well it is. My partner does the same thing because he is too lazy to cook. If you think about the fact that a ready meal from M&S is about £4... a fizzy drink or juice in a bottle another £1.50... Then maybe eating in a restaurant in the evening at an average of £8.00 per person... That is already over £10 per day. I am going to juice fast and learn to cook. I have already purchased several vegan cookbooks off Amazon marketplace. It's going to be my latest project. I was a vegetarian for 2 years and I would like to be one again. But I feel cheese and butter are bad for me, and I overate on them while vegetarian. AND.. I am allergic to fish. So I am going for a long term vegan diet this time.
Fasting...well there's a plan. do you have any good sites you could pm me alexandra? I would like to do a little research My grandparents used to fast every monday but for religious reasons. I might look into doing that with double payback...but would that be right- fasting in order to get/healthy lose weight and to focus prayer??? :think:I dunno advice ladies please?
As for the cooking- it aint hard and you don't have to be an expert. I belive in going with your gut (excuse the pun:p) Get a big book and then go for it...don't get too hung up on recipes...it can get boring and become hard work sometimes if you're too rigid.

Thanks Ziggles. No chocolate in the house, I don't eat it. I might have a bath once I decide on what I will wear to my cousin's funeral tomorrow
I think my problem with trying to get out of the O/D is budget wise, I can do it and have budgeted to do it. However, I am impatient and I like to see results quickly. Ziggles you asked for advice, I spent years eating just raw fruit and veg, yes I was very slim and had bags of energy but on the minus side if badly affected my body so not good in the long term.
Some people eat normally all week and for just one day have raw fruit and veg or soups. This is probably a better idea than an actual fast if you're not used to it.
Something else that works for some is to put black paper under your plate or to line the kitchen cupboards with it, or on the worktops. Very off putting.
Alexandrajf - you don't need cooking skills to make a nice big salad.0 -

i think the one day a week would work better for me actually...deprivation just leads me to go overboard later:o
Black paper huh...interesting.
You'll be pleased to hear Anglea, that i have just this minute visualised the 2 roads....:DBlessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heavenMatthew 5:30 -
Hi all
Savoury craving - eat some twiglets. You can't really binge on them without feeling a big sick.
I can honestly say that my OH can quite happily munch his way through a complete bag of Tangy Twiglets (the Worcester Sauce ones they've just bought back) - guess there is no help for some!
CL - keep up the driving, I couldn't imagine what I'd do if I didn't drive. Have you considered trying another instructor? Its good to practise with family but can be a little stressful at times (I recall taking my OH out in my car as he was a late driver and OMG! I think I nearly turned to drink...:rotfl:). Having a qualified instructor will also ensure you don't pick up and bad habits that we all get as soon as we pass.
Well guys, sounds like you've all been v.busy. Steady week for me, work is usually busy so nothing new there, hit my Aug NSD challenge this week :T but bought a dress online today(though it's not gonna kill my bank or budget) and am thinking I need to look out all the stuff for the car boot on sunday - please let it be sunny...

bwahahahahahahahahaha...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:you wouldn't last the morning. I have to comb it into tomorrow's style/puffball whatever the night before then tie it up in a scarf or i need 10 minutes of serious afro-combing and brushing to tame it into something lookable. I thank God everyday that i am not a fashionista, and my job isn't very styling either or i would just chop the lot off. I would never survive in london etc. but then i would just walk into a salon and sort it out. Too expensive here as no competition. Though i am trying to get it a bit neater but that involves buying straighteners- which i've never used and don't know how to really and begrudge the money too..but then...to quote a frind 'how will you get a man with that? They like a girl in heels (which i also don't wear) and nice hair' :eek:Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heavenMatthew 5:30 -
Hi all
On the subject of hair, mine is normally very wavy and curly but lately it's been going flat so to a void a 'bad hair day' I always wind it wet round my fingers and pin it so when it dries it's very curly. Sometimes I can't get a comb through it, so couldn't imagine what it must be like to have an Afro.
Kerri, I can normally eat a bag of twiglets too, but wouldn't open a second bag like I would of crisps.
Ziggles, glad you tried the 2 roads images, I was also doing it today with a number of different goals I procrastinate over and it can be quite sobering to see the path with you when nothing changes and only get's worse.
Black paper. I have a habit of having drinks and food at the computer and also going online excessively so decided to cover the desk with something to stop spills, so what better than dark paper I thought.
Yes, it worked. I started to feel headachey and a bit sick and the darkness really put me off using it. However, before long I had to cover up the black because I felt so unwell. So it did really work, but I gave up on it.
Today I only bought groceries and figs.0
