Angel,
Sorry to hear about your weekend. If you can justify half of it, why not return the other half?
Can't really do without a washing machine though so dont feel to hard on that, have you ever considered putting e.g £20 away in a just in case fund every pay day in case one of your electrial appliances like this breaks so you dont have to find the entire amount in one go to cover it?Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
Well, I aim to stay in til Thursday when I have a compulsory meeting at an employment agency...so I aim to have 2 NSDs; Tuesday and Wednesday; I had to buy a bus ticket, milk, bread, bananas and some cheese today to get me through the rest of the week so had to spend a bit of money.
Anyway...I am decluttering more things and doing washing, trying to find things to sell online and at Cash Converters etc to get more money and clear more room. Also working my way through my book piles to try and get them ready to sell on Greenmetropolis.
No mad spends to report...I can't afford it anyway.0 -
thanks NGlady
Wish I could take back the £60 I have spent eating out this weekend....grudge that the most. Dont really want to return the clothes I purchased (£11 in Primark and £31 in Next (beautiful white top and some bracelets)) The rest was clothes and underwear for my dd which she actually did need (well some of it) and there is no way she is letting me have it back.
Yes, I do put away money every month straight from salary into credit union at work which will cover the washing machine but means my little nest egg is now gone which makes me uncomfortable.DFW 228 LONG H 68

Well, I have just added 39 new books to my inventory on Greenmetropolis.com; many of which I haven't even read!! (I am on there with the same username as here). Now to crack on with reading some of the remaining, unlisted books.0

Thanks anglea! Pat on the back most appreciated
Aw Polly! Hope you feel better soon! It's horrible when you're feeling poorly. :grouphug:
Lilac pixie - those wedge sandals sound great at that price! and if you will get lots of wear out of them. And you are on a budget now to make up for your spend so don't be too hard on yourself.
Well done morocha on resisting temptation!
Nglady, love hearing about your weekends, well done on only buying ONE dress!
Angel flower, at least you did have some savings to cover your unexpected expense of a washing machine. It's not like you could live without that. It's just come at a bad time by the sounds of it! :grouphug:
flickering ember - well done on all your listings and hope you get lots of lovely money soon!
I really like reading about ho everyone is getting on, it really motivates me to try with my own spends. I've just done my budget for the month (don't even get paid until Wednesday!!), I can pay off my credit card and have enough for the month if I'm tight, with £30 for clothes as a treat. I'm gonna try and save some of my weekly spends as well for extra treats!!
Tonight I'm going to the pub with some friends, I only have £4 so will NOT be drinking very much and not eating outthis is the plan anyway...

Been poorly today. Not been out, hence NSD again. Spent a bit on weekend though. Paid depost on a holiday in Pembrokehsire. Also takeaway Saturday and lunch out Sunday.0

Had yet another go at clearing out my wardrobe - hate this chore
. Found a suit I bought from M&S with tags still on that's within their 35 days distance selling regs (bought online) and it's going back to a store tomorrow. That'll be a refund of £63. It's a lovely Autograph suit with wool (originally £158) but the fact that it's been in my wardrobe for 34 days and I didn't even remember it was there is proof that I really don't need it. I have so many other suits but my problem is that I need to lose 10lbs for them to fit me properly. I would save so much money by losing weight and yet I just find it so hard. I read an article on a declutter expert in yesterday's Sunday Times who keeps a wicker basket in her bedroom with clothes that will fit 'when she loses 10lbs'. Thought it was a great idea and I'm definitely going to do that rather than sell some lovely stuff that just doesn't fit. BTW, the M&S suit was to wear on 'fat days' and I didn't really feel great in it so don't feel bad returning it. Anyone else buy clothes rather than lose a few pounds? Tell me I'm not the only one.......

Hi everyone, lovely to catch up on all your news - tut tut, there have been a few spending sprees on here
Those of you under the weather today, hope you feel better VERY SOON.
Polly, is the idea for the wicker basket, to shock you into seeing how many clothes you buy the wrong size?
I'm always buying clothes that are too tight, got two skirts hanging up on my door I bought a few weeks ago and haven't dared try them again.
So you forgot about the suit? :rotfl:
No extras for me today, only grocery shopping, was buying food for other son's visit - he's staying for over a week and on Wednesday as he's bringing a friend. I totally forgot to buy anything for me to eat for the next few days (as everything I bought at the weekend I put in the freezer) so ate cereal for my tea!
Still I could lose some weight doing this.0 -
Hi all,
Saturday wasn't too bad, thanks to those who askedI'm going to recount my entire day, just because I'm bored (and also it'll help me figure out what I spent)...
- £76 refund in Barratts (should've been £71 but she didn't take the website discount off)
- £11 in primark on a floral purse & 2 vests (one of which is going back)
- £9.98 in H&M - a basic purple vest for me and a prezzie for my mum
- £4.66 vouchers in Boots on a nail polish & drink
- £1 on a sandwich in M&S
- £3.80 in transport (would have been £6.10 but I walked instead of getting the bus)
So I spent £25.58 cash but got back £91.60 from New Look & Barratts
Sunday was a NSD, and today I spent 99p on some packaging and 91p in Asda. Not bad really.
Ok I have about 100 posts to catch up on, so will be back later to catch up with you all! xxx0 - £76 refund in Barratts (should've been £71 but she didn't take the website discount off)

Busy replacing winter items in my wardrobe with summer ones; it's nice to see some old items I'd forgotten about and see some bright colours. I'll be working on this more tomorrow, trying on items too if I haven't worn them in ages; going to sell/give to charity anything surplus as I really do want to declutter.0
