I love you LA but you just made me cry at work and if I had any chance of hiding it it was lost when I choked on my dinner at being dent free (which I am incidentally, all my own knashers).
I think I'm dwelling on it all too much which is making me feel worse. The particular friend I'm going with was happy I was going as we could 'sit in the corner and get drunk' which is hardly my style but entirely hers. I've mentioned her on here before, 26 and living in an old folks flat with a cat...
But I will make it fun even if noone cares about my birthday. I'm wearing my debt free dress (the turquise jane norman) and I'm wearing black shoes and bag so I can wear the black hat I got (50p from new look) a few years back for another wedding. The only thing I've had to buy for it was new undies as the cut of the dress shows most bras. That only came to about £21 or so.
Im going to start drinking first thing (booze will be expensive there, posh hotel job!) and dance the night away!
Thank you darling. xx
ps got an email from my mum who is having a fantastic time in cyprus, her wedding is today (well not hers but the one she is going to!) so no doubt she's having a super time.
pps LA if your engagement ring didn't outdo mine I'd be very disappointed! Always say I'm single as I can't find a man who can afford a diamond big enough
ppps plans for the 6th october 2008 are already underway, if fortune favours I'll be in venice or rome with noone to forget my birthday but me!0 -

Sounds like a bottle in a handbag job....... or maybe under your hat if it's big enough!!!!
Have a good un & chin up hon xxA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Oh dear! Didn't mean to make you cry! Or choke!
Right that friend of yours....the one who sounds old before her time.....WELL.....sometimes she can have your undivided attention and she can be herself and you'll be a friend and cater to it.
BUT NOT THIS TIME!
It's a wedding and a birthday. Absolutely NO time to be sitting in corners being anything less than FUN. Now you tell this friend on Saturday (if she's corner hugging) that tonight is the night to put all troubles and cares aside and you MUST have a good time. It's the law!
Be strong & in control LJ - you know she might just thank you for it.
Venice or Rome for next year? Sounds fantastic! And planning trips like that is half the fun.
I went to Vienna for my 30th and I had a ball just planning it - had an ace time when I was there. Birthday should be memorable no matter what age. Life is sadly too short and for some, they don't reach the next one, so for their sakes and the people they leave behind, we should celebrate every single one whether it's a biggie or not.
Send us a piccie if you get one ok? (of you at the wedding I mean).

weeeeeelllllll boots have this little gift pack with a bottle of archers and a diamonte hip flask.... it's quite small though. Would need to look out a bigger bag to hide a bottle in it but the thought had crossed my mind!0 -
LA, I have tried for years to get her to live it up, part of the reason we've not spoken in so long is that I got sick of going out and spending the whole night blowing smoke in places I never wanted to be! My life was by no means perfect but I wanted to go out looking for fun and instead spent the time trying to cheer up my friend. gave up in the end which is sad I know but I'm talking YEARS of this.
Worst case I'll either get up and dance myself or make friends of others there. If she is adamant about sitting in the corner she can sit there herself.....
'noone puts LJ in a corner'

couldn't resist.
if you pm me your email I'll send a pic (or a link to my bebo) I'm not wanting to put piccies on here after a certain person dropping by (looooooong story)
hows things going on the job hunt?0 -
You're doing the right thing by dancing on your own if friend doesn't want to - and I am sure you will make friends of other people, weddings are like that once you all get on the dance floor!
I do remember you telling me you've struggled with your friend actually.

Morning guys.
Well today got off to a better start, no major catastrophes. Got to work on time and went to the mail room to pick up the mail....and there was none. I asked the security guy about it and he informed me that the post men are on strike now till next tuesday. Which means I have pretty much no work to do until then. So I come back grumbling about having nothing to do when it hits me,
that means I won't get any birthday cards either. Just when I was feeling a bit better about not having anyone to remember! I got my aunt and cousins yesterday as they posted it before going on holiday but anyone who was posting it on time won't get here till for a week.
As a side note it looks like my aunt toof a leaf out of my book as my card 'rattles' when I shake it which means she has done what I usually do and filled it with confetti. Have a great giggle catching people out with that and making a mess. At my mum's 50th she deliberatly shook it all over the floor in front of her chair in the living room and ordered my stepdad NOT to clean it up until after her bday. At my stepdads birthday he kept his to put in my birthday card last year btu8 forgot where he put it :rotfl:0 -
Just a little update, lynsayjane wrote: »-call the dwp re; benefits I've been receiving this year. Sent them a letter just after I started my new job but they've not stopped paying me and as they are !!!!!!s I'll only have more to pay back so need it stopped asap! have told them to stop so we'll see how long that takes!
-once savings acct gets opened start transferring money over. Have decided I'd make more money by spending on a 0% cc and putting cash into savings acct to cover full payment at end of 0% period than with a cashback card. Done a spreadhseet to track spends and deposits to ensure it's covered. the dd has appeared on my bank account but the deposit cheque hasn't been cashed yet, once it does I can start transferring money
-try to have nsd all week (maybe not thursday if I need anything for the weekend) only 40p on monday and nsd yesterday, today i have to spend but should keep it low or nothing thursday, friday
-try to get all the cleaning and things done monday-thursday so friday can be spent pampering myself for the birthday/wedding on saturday. did the bathroom and hall on monday, will try and do the bedroom or living room tonight and the other tomorrow
-if the company dealing with house repairs sends out the documents this week I'll make a start on filling them out. nothing as yet and with the postal strike possibly not this week :rolleyes:0 -
LOL at the confetti story! One day your step dad is gonna find a whole bunch of confetti stashed away somewhere obscure and think "Ohhhhhh that's where I put it! Why the bl00dy hell did I put it there?!" :rotfl:
Bummer though about your cards not getting there. I thought the postal strike was 48 hours though from midday tomorrow (Thursday)? Maybe it's different for bonny Scotland...? I know it doesn't really help with Saturday though does it?
Awww such a shame...sorry hunny. Best you just take that extra time to pamper yourself even more in preparation for the wedding!
PS Oh and extra time for cheesecake too!

there is ALWAYS time for cheesecake

Well today has been full of ups and downs! Mail did come, an hour and a half late so the afternoon passed quicker than the morning, tomorrow, who knows???
Got a call from the complaints guy at london and county and they admit that the solicitor fees were their error so their sending me a cheque for the £400 I missed out on.
Went to asda to pick up a birthday cake and provisions for the weekend, didnt see any cakes I liked so I picked up a pack of mini pink breast cancer donuts, its much more me! Then a little twerp in need of a haircut id'd me and wouldn't sell me a bottle of wine  Luckily when I went to the customer service desk to complain (yes I was that bothered) I realised I knew the lady at the counter so got my wine and a giggle about it.
Just had a phonecall from mum in cyprus and she sounds like she's having a fantastic time, the wedding was amazing and my stepdad did really well with his best man speach but mum forgot she had a video option on her camera! Had to tell her about the birthday card thing and she feels really bad now. Funny thing is though my aunt who got her card here yesterday ALWAYS forgets to post them on time, except the one time everyone else forgets :rotfl:0
