    thanks for remembering xxx
  • Aww bless you honey. <Blush :)>

    To do,
-get details of home insurance claims in order to get quotes as renewal due in Oct. got the details so will get onto confused.com, not due till end of october so plenty time
-check electric bill and reduce dd accordingly (was paying arrears) called them up, woman said she could reduce it from £51 to £8 but I suggested £15 so I can still have some credit going into wnter months, but still sve £36 a month
-pay off new look store card (£20 no interest) and cancel called them up this morning and she's sending out the letter
-make list of debts from mum to work out what savings I should have as prevously staded, dne and agreed on
-buy bus pass to encourage nsd and small savings got this on tuesday saved £7.80 of change so far
-set up direct debit for council tax decided against dd a can pay by switch online and as I'm paid weekly now it still gives me a little leeway

there you go guys completed with a day off :D bonus!

now I'm off to get dressed and go shopping woohoo

Cheers for the support this week guys, feel like it was quite a productive week! So here's to the next week being just as good, here are my list of goals for this week.

-call the dwp re; benefits I've been receiving this year. Sent them a letter just after I started my new job but they've not stopped paying me and as they are !!!!!!s I'll only have more to pay back so need it stopped asap!

-once savings acct gets opened start transferring money over. Have decided I'd make more money by spending on a 0% cc and putting cash into savings acct to cover full payment at end of 0% period than with a cashback card. Done a spreadhseet to track spends and deposits to ensure it's covered.

-try to have nsd all week (maybe not thursday if I need anything for the weekend)

-try to get all the cleaning and things done monday-thursday so friday can be spent pampering myself for the birthday/wedding on saturday.

-if the company dealing with house repairs sends out the documents this week I'll make a start on filling them out.

thats all I can think of for now, if I get it done in the next few days I'll make another list. Brain isn't working at the minute!!!
  • Evening LJ. Another busy list! But you can do it - you strike me as someone who will get things done when she is determined.

Good luck with all the no spend days - I will be joining you on that although I do have to spend on EBAY postage tomorrow, probably a bit of bus fare (unless I get lifts all week but I can't depend on it), groceries.

I also need some new long sleeve tops/jumpers for the approaching cold weather but there is a second hand shop near my works which often sells posh things barely worn so I might have a nose in there during the week.

Hang on - am I rambling on the wrong thread? ;)

Have called the dwp about my tax credits. They must be on commision because I've had easier times cancelling credit cards!!! But she's put an end date on my employment and I'll get a letter out with the amount I have to repay. IF I agree with their total I'll post them a cheque!one down four more to go :)

well guys as some of you know it's my birthday on saturday and it's not really shaping up to be one of the best. My mum is in cyprus and last I heard took my card to the airport to post as she didn't trust my sister to post it on time...then forgot. I highly doubt any of my friends will remember it's my birthday and the only one who does is being accompanied by me to her little brothers wedding that day. Yup I'm spending my birthday at someone else's wedding, talk about overshadowed eh? I suppose at 26 I should get used to it cause noone's really gonna care till I'm 40 now, but is it too much to feel special and loved on my birthday?

I've bought myself a mandarin cheesecake for breakfast saturday morning. Was going to buy a birthday cake but there wasn't one I wanted so it'll do. I kinda also went a bit ott when it comes to buying yourself a birthday pressie at the weekend but since it's the only pressie I'm going to get (at least on the day) I wanted something to make me feel better and show off, so i bought a ring like this, it's too new a style to be online but it's near enough the same but with six stones.

    http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/detail/R/4936809/

I liked that it was princess cut as I'm a bit of a princess, mum described me on bebo as the princess to my sister's angel (yeah like she is!!!) and the six stones since my birthday is the 6th and it's my 2-6th....that was too far there.

I'm feeling kinda guilty and not about it. Noone else has seen it yet, obviously not wearing it to work! Its such a lot of money after a year of dfw'ness. Thats over two months food money, but it's paid cash (sorta) so it's not getting me into debt. Check me trying to justify it hahahaha if mum weren't abroad I'd have shown her it and got the standard 'if you like it' answer.

Oh anyway I dont care, if I'm going to have a miserable birthday I'm going to have a sparkly finger. argh

    OK madam.....let's be having you.

First off - liking the ring! My engagement ring came from Ernest Jones and it also has a Princess cut but with 9 diamonds and baguette diamonds down the sides. (That's not me trying to 'outdo you' by the way...! No way....just thought you might like to know what it is like...?)

    Anyway moving on....

Now, let's try & look at this another way. Unfortunately your Mum is away for your actual birthday but she will be back and you can perhaps organise an 'alternative' birthday bash with her and anyone else that you care to invite along. Why not?

As for Saturday, OK it's your birthday but someone else's wedding day but you can have a *great* time! People will be all happy & jolly, there will be free booze, dancing, food....let people know it is your birthday too and they'll be happy for you and you'll probably get just as much attention as the bride come the evening.

Your breakfast is very...different! I can't do sweet things in the morning *but* hey this is about what you want and if that's what you want to treat yourself to, then marvellous! Go for it!

Now as for this "No-one is gonna care till I am forty" malarkey - well you can just put a stop to that sort of crazy talk.

30 is a big one for a start but, more than that, you have the power to make *every* birthday special. Sadly, in this world, a lot of us do have to do our own organisation for our birthdays (I have - and still do usually!) so all you have to do, is contact people in advance and tell them to keep the date free then think of what you want/where you want to meet up. The rest just kind of happens. You must know this...am I teaching you to suck eggs Grandma? (That's a joke...you know I am 10 years older than you!)

Come on STOP telling yourself you are going to have a miserable birthday - that is not necessarily going to be the case! You are going to a lovely wedding with happy people, you'll be all beautiful & wearing nice things...be happy for the couple and share their joy.

And when that's over, get a night out planned for when your Mum comes back.

And when that's over, get your thinking cap on for 6th October 2008! ;)

Can I say as well....sounds to me like you are beating yourself a bit about buying this ring. Are you? Well don't. If you weren't debt free (I typed dent free originally - :rotfl:) and you were struggling to make payments then this would be a different matter. But can I remind you that you are in a new job - been promoted & got a pay rise already...you're debt free...and it's your birthday.

    Nuff said,

Come on Princess - cheer up, you *can* make this Saturday night a birthday to remember.

    Hugs.
