Cheap HPI Check for Cars

I think you'd run up quite a bill HPI'ing cars you haven't touched. The multi-buy for consumers I think gives three checks @£9.99, so once you have targeted a handful, you can go, appraise the car and the owner, then if your happy, get on the phone to HPi.

Anybody know if you can put in a reg plate and get the vin number, as the vin number of my project car is worn, so some of the digits could be anything (the 6's could be G's etc).

Sadly i don't have the V5, so i want to make sure the car is correct before spending the money on restoring it

(if the vin for the reg given is completely different to the one on the car i know something is wrong)

Apply for the V5C and see if it turns up 1st.

With the HPI you provide them with the VIN and they check to make sure its what they have recorded.

There are sometimes several chassis numbers on the vehicle.

The plate and a stamped in number.

Update - the reg i got is definitely not for this car, so is there a way of putting in a VIN number and getting the registration for it?

I would apply for a new registration but there are no factory records for the date of manufacture so the DVLA won't help me apart from saying the next step is an SVA which costs more than the car is worth.

Depending on the dealer and the cars age/value.

Small shady garage get your own. Large dealership that sell mostly new cars with a few almost new ones then i wouldnt bother.

£20 or so worth the peace of mind?

Hello,

I have spent all night looking at HPI checks for N.Ireland. Some companies don't have Northern Irish registrations and others are returning the wrong details (but similar) for a car I want to look at today. Also I have read that the fee doesn't cover guarantees for here.

I'd be grateful if someone could look up LG58 YWZ for me as I'm a bit concerned with it having a GB car registration.

ps. I do my bit as an adult numeracy tutor helping every student I have learn about the pay-day loan scams etc. They mostly unemployed and I don't want them falling into this trap! (Just one of my bits for society)
