So who are we all going to sign up with?
I have looked at Orange and BT as possibilities.....No doubt someone will tell me to avoid them both!!!0 -
I called customer services when I got in from work, and got through to 'Ariel', from India I presume. I told her about how I'd got a 12-month contract at a mutually agreed price of £9.99 . She kept repeating how it was going to cost £14.99 now, ignoring everything I said, and suggested calling the 0800 number on the letter as her hands were tied.
Got through to them after 5 minutes, but didn't really get anywhere. He kept saying that he'd feel the same in my situation, but couldn't do anything about it, even after speaking to a supervisor. I pointed out that they had breached the contract and presume I could now leave with my original 30 days notice. He checked with a supervisor again and confirmed this. I asked if I could have confirmation in an email or letter as I didn't want the conversation denied sometime in future, but he said he couldn't do this, although he would put all the details onto my account.
So, my MAC should arrive within 5 days. Need to decide where to go now, oh and change my email address on about 50 websites. Isn't hindsight a great thing!Nice to save.0 -

I'm not alone then?
Back at the beginning of December I had a hassle that was 'resolved' by Pipex offering me to reduce my line rental to £7.99. This entailed me agreeing to a '12 month' contract for the service.
Today I have also had the 'update' to some pointless 'Hometime' service letter. Something that I do not want, have not asked for nor do I need. At the bottom of the letter is the 'Should you do not want to take advantage....a monthly subscription price £14.99.
Needless to say I called to ask what had happened to my 'contract' - as you can bet the cheating scum would have tried to stop me wiggling out of it if I'd wanted - but they were not interested.
They would give me the MAC code though, so I'll watch this thread with interest.0 -

I have twice asked for my MAC from Pipex and both times got it next day by text. This was followed up over the next couple of days by answering phone message, email and letter.0

I wonder, having looked at some other broadband forums, whether they might be a bit overwhelmed by the numbers jumping ship?0 -
I left Pipex in December after being with them since 2002. Their speeds were abysmal and their technical support was worse than useless.
I moved to https://www.newnet.co.uk as they don't throttle speeds. However I am finding the 3GB limit a bit tight for me. That said, it's only £1.40 for an extra Gb of bandwidth.
Have a look at https://www.thinkbroadband.com as you can do comparisons of the different ISP's.
Take a look at IDNet, an excellent small ISP like Newnet, I have been with them for over 3 years.
They have from 1st February doubled their limits, 30 day contract, excellent support, no throttling.0
