I am very into family history and I do feel sorry for the future generations as there was a lovely "naming pattern" for previous centuries which helps so much when you are trying to trace families.
With people choosing so many exotic (and Im not referring to the OP!!) names now that have no relevance to the family and are often quite silly and embarassing for the kids as they grow up, there is going to be no chance of latching on to a pattern for future amateur genealogists.
PS Greek friend of mine just had her first (very late) baby and she is called Mary.0 -

I really like the name Nico, but never heard of it spelt or pronounced with an 's' on the end. Out loud it sounds as if the 's' goes on forever!!I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed. So does my mum, can you imagine !
My husband seriously wanted us to consider Spartacus too! Luckily it was a girl
Although throughout pregnancy, my bump was always referred to as Spartacus.
We told MIL we were definitely calling the baby that if it was a boy, you should have seen her face, it was much like this: :rotfl:
BTW, I love the name Luca as well, it was on our top baby names list, But Nicos is fab tooValue of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Saturday morning Greek School..lovely.
'Really Greek' to me means my old boss - I answer the phone, take the message, thank the caller, walk into his office...
'Who is it, Ioanna?'
'Father xxxx'
'S%*£! The Priest! What does he want?'
'To talk about some idea he's had.'
'When?'
Now. He's on his way round' [Retrieving the icons from behind the door and giving them a dust over before placing them in easy view]
'S*$&! F£*@! B($&£**!' [plus lots of Greek words as he drags a tie out of the bottom of his desk]
I never remember anyone English, Scots, Welsh or even Indian reacting in such a way, but during the meeting, someone else came in the office with his best mate, they were a little noisy (and cheeky as ever). I whispered 'Shhh, he's got Father xxxx in there'
'The Priest? S$&£!'. Like a pair of naughty school boys, they were...

Its okay, I cant abide the word 'horrid' oddly enough, something the famous five would say...oh julian, how perfectly horrid of you, I am going to tell Aunt Fanny this MINUTE!!!!
We all have different opinions on things, thank goodness

If your name is Charlotte, then yes, we do!I am very into family history and I do feel sorry for the future generations as there was a lovely "naming pattern" for previous centuries which helps so much when you are trying to trace families.

Both my children have family middle names but they're 'own' first names. DD has a tradionally spanish name but not unusual, and DS has an Irish name as MIL's family are Irish.
On my mums side, the same 3 names serve about 12 people over 3 generations which I think is a bit too much. Each person needs a prefix, Big Tom, wee Tom, old Tom, young Tom you get the idea lol0
