thanks for posting your story. i have found so much comfort from reading how things can work out for people and it gives me hope for the future.

i can fully understand how worried anyone would be during a subsequent pregnancy - not really sure how you can avoid that.

I don't think you can avoid the worry. It takes some of the joy away from the pregnancy - but at the same time it doesn't half make you very grateful and thankful!

susan - i don't think the hospitals are bothered about the scan pics. they don't seem to treasure them like we do. they might still have a copy on file which you could have. the lady at EPU asked if i wanted a pic of the baby after the bad news but i didn't want this. they might keep a copy though.
Some time I intend to ask to look at my hospital medical records so I'll find out then. I think it's probably unlikely they keep them though as the picture doesn't really have any medical information.

Susan - it is possible, I know my notes had a copy of my 12 week scan in it and I'm fairly sure they took a copy of the scan photo from my MMC as well for hospital records. It's worth an ask just in case.

Hi Ladies, Im so glad I found you!

Like Nephthys I suffered a miscarriage from blighted ovum only a week ago.

I was 11+3 and only days away from the 12 week scan when I started bleeding, a lot! I called ShropDoc who got me an emergency scan for last Monday. Our 12 week scan was due yesterday :(

Went to EPU to find no baby. It still doesnt feel very real to me and Im finding it hard to talk about. Friends and family keep asking me how I am. I can tell them that my belly still hurts and im still bleeding, but I cant tell them how I feel.

I am back at EPU tomorrow for bloods I just feel like im in limbo at the moment.

    hi kelly

    was this your first pregnancy?

it is an awful thing to happen but i am trying to be positive and from what i have read and stories people tell me we have every chance of the next pregnancy working out.

are you having the ERPC? if you are don't worry about it, i found it to be straightforward and not as bad as you expect.

The chances of a miscarriage after one previous miscarriage are only negligibly different from the chances usually. Miscarriages are also more common in a first pregnancy than subsequent ones.

Although obviously that doesn't stop you worrying but it's nice to know.

Kellyg, I'm really sorry you are going through this.I'm sorry any of you have to go through this.

I had to have the Evac as I was showing no sign of miscarrying normally. I remember crying my heart out when I was told and then being numb a lot of the time. DH and I cried a lot but found it hard to tell other people. I didn't tell my best friends until months afterwards and only 2 people in my work ever knew - one a good friend, the other a very supportive boss. The feelings come later and it gets easier to talk about (its taken me a year to come on here and talk about it - I still get a bit upset thinking about what might have been). Give yourself time - I know its easy for me to say that now. Don't be afraid to talk to people - maybe just one person you are very close to. It can help. I know I am an internet stranger but am always willing to talk if it would help.

    hiya, thanks for replying.

Pebbles, yes it was our first. I came off the pill in August, and gave it our best shot, we got lucky very quickly. Im hoping I wont need the ERPC as I seemed to have bled a lot of clots away. (sorry if TMI). I guess when Im back at the EPU tomorrow they will check? I thought the bleeding had pretty much stopped but last night was back with avengeance. So god only knows whats happening.

Nephthys, I cried a lot at the time, as althought I didnt know to what degree it what was happening, I just knew that that much blood was bad. I just dont really know what to say to people. There was only a handful of people that knew but I just dont want to see anyone, but they want to visit.

Am just hoping that we can try again.

Hugs to you all, it just sucks doesnt it!
