I'm so sorry that you are here Boat girl, (((((hugest of hugs))))) at this awful time. I had an early miscarriage so can't advise, but is there a midwife you feel comfortable with you can talk to at the hospital?

Miss_I, I am really sorry to hear that there's something more to address medically. I hope it all goes as straightforwardly as possible so you can concentrate on Thomas' funeral. That is a lovely name you have chosen for your little boy. Thinking of you x

Mrs_TM, glad to hear you painted the future nursery and are looking to the future x

Thank you, Lara, on all counts. :) xx

Mrs_T_M, I second Lara - it's lovely to hear about you working towards the future. Gives me some hope that one day I can get there too. :)

Thank you so much for all the thoughts and advice. I have been in to the hospital today and have been given medication to start the process and will go in Saturday and then stay for as long as it takes to deliver. Apparently after 10 weeks this is the course of action the recommend, as I had a c-section with my little girl then they can only give you half the strength in drugs so it can take a lot longer but is safer this way.
I have asked to have the testing to find out what the problem was and make a decision as to whether we try again. We are very fortunate to have a gorgeous little girl already so am trying to count our blessings but it's very hard at the moment.

Sorry to see you here boat girl :-(

I had a last scan Wednesday after passing fetus on Tuesday night, seemed a long time after being in the hospital on the Friday . But all clear now, just have to wait for letter with consultant appointment .

Due back at work Monday, physically ok . Just hope no one brings their kids into work as even the sight of babies or toddlers is making me upset at the moment :-(

Silly I know but just need to avoid it for a while x

  • Home from hospital after seeing the consultant - he is of the opinion that as I'm not in any pain, have no substantial bleeding or any physical symptoms and there's no sign of infection then to give me another dose of anti-biotics and wait and see what happens. His words "if it's not causing problems, then leave well alone, the body normally sorts itself out". I am to go back in 2 weeks for a follow up scan to see what is going on. I can't deny, I'm rather relieved to not be going down the surgical route again (for now, hopefully not at all). So we'll take it day by day and see what happens.

ttc39, glad to hear from you and that physically you're doing alright. Make sure you don't go back to work before you're ready, take some time for yourself in order to start healing mentally too. *big hugs* It is not remotely silly for wanting to avoid babies/small children for a while, I feel rather similar myself. xx

boat girl - take it easy, I will be thinking of you today/this weekend. At least you will be in the best place to deliver and have the procedure done and be able to get the medical care and support off the midwives and doctors you need. xx

Thank you for the kind thoughts, it really has been an awful few weeks. Yesterday went as well as these things can go I think. We started the process at about 10am and it was all over by about 5. It was quite painful but a lot less than I expected, almost instantly I felt better as the nausea and pain seem to go. I think I am in a bit of shock though as I found it very hard to sleep and get warm and it all seems a bit dream like. I was able to leave hospital at about half 10 last night and was nice to get back home. We will be getting the baby tested to find out what caused this and will make a decision about future pregnancies based on this.

I hope everyone else going through this has lots of love and support as I think this is the only way I have been able to cope so far.

Congrats Toooldforthis and crossing absolutely everything for you. That seems like a totally natural reaction to protect your emotions. There are a few ladies with recurrent m/c currently pg on the 12 week and the final pg thread so you might find people to talk to about your feelings there?

Boat_girl I am glad the process went as well as could be expected. I am sure you're feeling emotionally and physically drained. Hoping that you are able to rest up and plan some small everyday nice things to take care of yourself. ((((You too ttc39)))).

Glad the consultant didn't seem too worried Miss_I. I hope everything rights itself as he said.

    Huge hugs to all xxx

I think this is totally normal. I'm pregnant after five miscarriages, although I had my daughter after the first one, and this time I didn;t tell anyone except close family till the 20 week scan. And I'd have waited even longer if I hadn;t been showing by then.

Even now, at six months, i don;t feel very confident and would rather not talk to people about it.

I think you will know when you feel ready to tell people, and before that time just keep it to yourself. There''s no official time to tell people.
