  • Phoenix, I didn't post this yesterday as I'm conscious it's quite hair raising information, however forewarned is forearmed. When I tried to mc naturally, it still hadn't completely happened after 8 weeks, so I had to have ERPC. They will only let you go 10 weeks maximum as the risk of infection increases then. I've never known anyone else take anywhere near that long, just me and my rotten luck again.

Hope the EPAU are helpful today Xx

Hi Phoenix, my natural mc at 7 weeks took around 1 week of bleeding. It wasn't very pleasant and I just stayed at home and took care of myself, but I was relieved not to have any intervention as I hate hospitals. I was still given the option to choose medical or surgical management, so if you don't want to go ahead naturally, you don't have to. The Dr also was happy for me to change my mind, and we agreed to give things a week and take it from there which I appreciated. I got very good care and I hope you do too at your local hospital. Thinking of you xxx

s0237276 - my period came back a month after the natural mc. But I think now that was because my hormones didn't kick in properly in the pregnancy. I had a negative hpt pretty quickly. When it came back it had changed completely, become so short and heavy which freaked me out a lot, but it seems quite common. I hope your period returns soon xx

    Hugs to all xx

Thank you everyone for your experiences. After the initial bit yesterday, the bleeding has been very light, kind of like the end of a period so I'm just going to go along to the EPAU on Monday afternoon and see what they say.

My friends started like that Phoenix, and then after about 7-8 days got very bad. So it's definitely worth getting them to give you a scan or you won't really know what's going on.

Started bleeding this morning :( I'm going to ring the EPAU tomorrow (haven't had a chance today as we've been at my SILs wedding) but am guessing I'll still go for the scan on Monday, to check that all is ok or something?

Anyone who has had a 'natural' miscarriage, please can I ask roughly how long this is going to take? Or is it as long as a piece of string?
I had a natural miscarriage at about eight weeks and after a few days with on/off spotting I had about a week of bleeding which was as heavy as the heaviest day of my period usually is and then it tailed off after two or three days. I have a friend who was able to go swimming four days after she first started bleeding and I've heard of people bleeding for longer so it does vary a lot.

Hi everyone, well the scan yesterday confirmed a miscarriage. They said the (miss-shapen) sac was slightly smaller than when I had my scan last week so appeared to be collapsing on itself but as my bleeding has been so light and nothing to write home about, I have decided to have an ERPC. They didn't really suggest how far along they thought I was when it failed but I'm guessing it was quite early on. I feel like if I try to do this naturally then it's going to drag on and on, so it feels like this is best for me.

So sorry it was confirmed Phoenix.

The Erpc will at least mean it's over with quickly, do you have a date for it this week?

    Xx

Not yet, I need to ring this morning and book myself in. They just gave me some leaflets with info about each method and said to ring back today when I'd decided what I wanted to do.
