AF was 36 days late, I'd previously done a HPT & got a -ve, decided I'd do another one a week later (Sat). On the Thurs night I started bleeding :( felt very sick Friday and got sent home from work at lunchtime and slept all afternoon. I decided to still do a HPT Sat am as was curious as to why AF was 36 days late & if was positive but I was miscarrying I thought it might be better to know for Dr records?!

Anyway- I got a BFP!!! MY OH was not contactable so I called my Mum, she said if I was pregnant but losing baby there was nothing I could do- just rest up as much as possible and take another test in a day or so. But then she pointed out- if it's my period could that be affecting the result? (I wouldn't have thought so but not sure?!)

I've had some blood when I wiped over the weekend :(

Fastforward to today- I did another test which told you how far gone you were but I got a BFN :'( I'm assuming I had a chemical pregnancy, although I did some online due date calculators but think I must have messed up my dates cos when they estimated I conceived I don't think we did DTD?!

I was just wondering- obviously I know the Dr can't do anything but I wondered whether I should make an appt anyway as I had a mmc last April so if this is considered as a mc too I may be able to push forward for tests etc as to why both pregnancies were not viable? I came home from work again today and just cried and slept but am going back to work tomorrow to keep busy. Probably sounds a bit silly and I have already been told by relatives "it was probably just a late period" but me & OH were already making plans for our future :(

    Thanks for reading x

Also, has anyone been told by Dr/fertility specialists of any vitamins that should be taken that can prevent miscarriages? I already take Folic Acid but my Dr told me to take a high dose Folic Acid but I haven't found any in chemists- can they be bought online?

Hello there - sorry about what you're going through, especially as you've already had a miscarriage. It does sound like a chemical pregnancy and, if it were me, I'd make an appointment to see my GP.

AFAIK the higher strength folic acid is only available on prescription, so you could ask for this while you're there.

I'm not sure of anything else you could take that might help, but worth asking your dr in case there is.

    Good luck with it all.

Emy Lou a late period won't give anyone a bfp you were definitely pregnant. As you had the mmc I would see the dr to see if you can get it on your records as I think they tend to investigate after 3.

I must have misread a bit on your other post I didn't realise AF was quite that late for you. So perhaps it was an early miscarriage and its totally understandable you'd made plans.

What I did was to commemorate it with a candle & a cake:o
Some plant trees or make memory boxes. It's up to you (((hugs)))

Things that I have done for due dates or other important dates/anniversaries have been make a birthday cake, write a poem, share a poem with friends, talk with friends, just tell a friend that it is a significant date, stay in bed half the day... I've also heard of people doing things like planting a tree or letting balloons go at the beach. Everyone is different so chooses different things but the one thing I would definitely recommend is having at least one person who knows it is the due date and you can talk to if need me.

For our due date we went away for the weekend- nowhere very special or expensive so I could have stayed in bed all day if I liked, but a lovely way to escape the real world and focus on each other x

Just to add to this - we went away just after the third loss and foolishly chose somewhere we would return to which then made it hard the next time we went so I would recommend going somewhere you don't expect to go back to (unless you decide you want to).
