I think i've volunteered to make some cake for a roast duck dinner at a friends house at the weekend. I don't think i know any healthy cake really.

The trick, I find, is to make a cake that YOU don't like... then you won't be tempted! :rotfl:
Options belgian chocolate hot choc solves that for me, its yummy :) I think it's the best instant hot chocolate even not taking into account the low calorie/sugar - it's the only one i don't use twice as much/add sugar to. Only problem is i got it on offer a while ago and it's nearly ran out and i think it's normally about £2.50.

I have got to try this stuff again, it could be the answer to my prayers...

Yup, you just use ground almonds instead of flour. That's worked perfectly well for me in crumbles so fingers crossed it turns out ok in cake form :)

Ground almonds, yikes!!! Think of the calories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Hi all, I know its not the 1st but can I join in? I started my healthy eating plan on 5th Jan and I was 13 stone 12. Weighed in on saturday and I was 12 stone 12, so really chuffed with myself, and everyone has noticed the difference. I have been ill with the norovirus since sunday so havent eaten since then, got on the scales earlier and I am now 12 stone 7 however, once i can face food I know this will increase a bit.
So I would like to put myself down for 7lbs this month, once I am better I am going to start some kind of fitness plan as well.

Welsome snuggle69, and Noctu as well!!!! :):):)
An acquaintance called in today. He said he'd been meaning to pop in for a week or so, having seen me out and a bout, noting the weight loss and presuming I was really ill again was dropping in to see if there was anything he could do to help, particularly knowing DH is away weekdays. I have never been so grateful to be singled out as potentially ill: if its all based on loss that I can live with.

It came at just the right time as I'm feeling low on body confidence, knowing I'm going to be under scrutiny in the next couple of days. So a big hip hip hooray to someone commenting.

I have been ravenous today as well (my own fault, especially after all our breakfast conversation yesterday...I didn't have any) so the compliment helped me nibble not wolf down my lunch. :)

Oh LIR, what a lovely neighbour! And it is lovely when someone notices your weight loss. :T

What would be my best (healthiest) choice for a curry tonight?

In terms of calories, the best one would be a chicken tandoori which doesn't have any sauce, with plain rice.

Or something with a tomato-based sauce...

How can you go without breakfast? I'd faint!

It takes me ages to get going in the morning (I'm such a night owl) so I don't really get hungry until I start eating. Plus I always eat brekkie at work and it's usually such chaos that I don't get to have it until well after 10am, by which point it's not such a stretch to do without until lunchtime anyway...

But think of the deliciousness :rotfl: It's for my mum, she can't have wheat or gluten and as using gluten free flour in recipes can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, it's a good option :) I won't be eating any though, I've only had cake once since the diet started in August.

Noooo Dragon - not possible. Demand to go back on the scales and prove the first reading was completely wrong!

The nurse actually said they wouldn't take the reading as I looked slimmer and the scales had just been switched on and can sometimes be a little ..... um ..... odd!

I have my start weight for feb :D I didn't lose anything last week BUT I didn't gain either which is good because I had those two bad nights worrying about the OH - and he proves me wrong to worry by going and getting 3 job interviews this week! All permanent jobs! Everything is crossed at the mo :D

Oooh everything crossed here in the Dragon household as well!

I'm flitting between this board and the occasions board - really need to find cheap yet thoughtful ideas to make for valentines.... otherwise he's just getting his favourite krispy cakes made for him!

How about something simple like breakfast in bed with his favourite tea/coffee?
