Well, it took more phone calls than it should have done, but my free iPod finally turned up!

I got back from holiday just before Christmas to find a card from the Post Office informing me that there was a parcel waiting... I went to the sorting office to pick it up and guess what I found? Not one package, but two - Citibank had accidentally sent me two iPods!

Needless to say I won't be complaining. :D I will, however, be closing my account as soon my six months is up. If ever I needed proof that the grass isn't always greener, this was it. Come back cahoot!
  • Who did you all contact to get your Nano?

I opened my account in September principly because of the Ipod Nano offer.

Since then I've been fobbed off with excuses. Someone was meant to contact me in November to organise delivery and they never did.

Since then they've ignored e-mails and the latest message states that they are awaiting stock and as soon as they arrive they'll post it out.

Scottish Miser: I just rang the standard citibank number and explained that they owed me an iPod. It took about 6 phone calls, 3 months of waiting, and it was still a total shock when it arrived.

My advice is to just keep ringing and pester them. Eventually you'll get through to someone that will know what they're doing.

    Good luck!
  • Guess what I received in thepost this morning, an Ipod Shuffle 512mb.

The letter states please enjoy your Ipod Nano.

    Oh well more letter writing.
  • I got the shuffle yesterday too, so i emailed through the online banking and got a reply this morning saying that the Shuffle was in addition to the Nano and the Nano would be with me shortly.

    Dead happy :)
  • I got the shuffle and sent it back the day I got it as I thought they'd made a mistake. Today I received a brand spanking new Ipod 2GB Nano. They told me I could keep the shuffle :( So now I have to write to them to see if they can send it back!!!!!!

Over the moon with the 2GB Nano. Citibank have gone way above my expectations.

Shame about the shuffle as I should never have sent it back!

Ho hum. Citibank are ace :j
  • I've had done the same, thinking they've sent the wrong damn item and a letter complaining with it.
  • I looked on here and hadn't heard anything after opening my account in September. I sent a secure message online through the Customer Services link online. They said I was eligible (even though the opening date of the account was after the offer closed). They then sent through the silver 2gig Ipod nano. Excellent. But no shuffle so maybe I should have complained a bit stronger!

    Great freebie though!
  • Hi Folks, this morning I received a phone call from a very pleasant lady from Citibank customer services in the UK.

She was phoning to apologise about the way the whole thing had been handled. It turns out the company handling the Ipod sent out the shuffles by mistake. Anyone who got a shuffle is entitled to keep it and it should say that on the letter accompanying the Ipod Nano.

Since I sent mine back they are going to return the shuffle to me so big result. The silver 2GB Nano is fantastic!

Citibank have resolved it well and will retain my custom :)

Out of interest, how did people get a Silver 2gb Nano when the offer was for a black 1gb Nano?

My main reason for coming back to this thread though is to ask a question. If you recall, so that you do not get the cost of the Ipod clawed back, you have to have standing orders going out of your account for 6 months. However, I received notification today that they are changing this account to a Citibank PLus account, and from 1st April you have to pay £10 per month. As this is a material change in the account, could you cancel without penalty or do you have to downgrade to the Citibank Access Account until the 6 months is up? Clearly, I am not going to pay £10 per month for an account that I only opened to get the Ipod (and the £50 Quidco cashback ;) .

    Many thanks
