Am currently in NY (thanks for the reply M4RKM) and I have 2 shoppers who want to goto the Woodbury outlets but I don’t fancy paying nearly $80 for a return coach. What’s the cheapest way to get there (and back)?

The Rome2Rio web site has some options that you might like to consider:

  • Hi, I was looking for some advice, never been to US before and looking to go to New York around end of Nov, Dec time next year, can you give me any advice on when is best time to look at booking flights etc for this and how much we should expect to pay for 2 adults for 5to7 days as I understand can be more expensive at this time. Any help is much appreciated.

    hi there

I dont think my advice will be anything but basic but there are loads of sites such as expedia you can check to give you an idea. there is google flights, you can check flights times and prices there there, there are sites suchs as trivago, booking, com, hotels.com for hotels, n what not so checking different dates will help there.
you could also compare sites such as thomas cook and british airways

I highly recommend looking around the sites above , looking for the best price and see if any others will beat-match it.

I highly recommend mykindatravel. no harm in sending those guys an email .they have helped me alot and happily give advice n stuff
since its your first time to the usa you need an esta witch lasts 2 years and i think is about £14 per person.
    hope this helps

We've just been. We left on the 21st and returned 24th - 3 nights and 4 days. It was the cheapest week I could find. For two people flying from Gatwick to JFK the flights were £750 in total including luggage, extra leg room and meals (Norwegian Airlines). The hotel was also much cheaper than in other weeks -£477 for three nights (the weeks before and after were in the £1000 area. I hadn't realised it was Thanksgiving but this may have been why it was cheaper, it made for a slightly quieter stay too.

I booked in August for the November stay.

It seems the Rockerfeller Christmas tree will be lit up on the 29th Nov this year. We went mid December a couple of years ago and although we had a great time, even some snow, we were disappointed with the Christmas lights, there were a few about but they seem to concentrate on "holiday windows" in the big stores rather than hang them from lamp posts as we do in High Streets here.
  • Hi There,

Taking my other half to NYC as a surprise in January. This will be my third time there however it will be my first time flying into Newark. I've read online there is a shuttle bus for approx $11 dollars return each to the bus terminal. Is that the best way in? We are staying at the Doubletree Hilton in Times Square West. Assuming thats the case I would just walk down one block and across to the TCKTS stand?

Usually I go into JFK so have either done a TAXI at the set $50 Manhanttan rate or we had transfers included.

Also any notable events on between 23rd-27th Jan? I've got the NY City Pass as it worked out best value with the attractions we would want to go to but was hoping there might have been something good on at MSG.

P.S- I stayed at the Roosevelt the first time I went and it was a brilliant hotel, if you still haven't booked and are considering it I would recommend it.
