A little bit of help if you don't mind, going to NYC next month in half term with 2 kids, tempted to try and see the New York Rangers play, any recommendations on where to buy reasonably cheap tickets, looked on Stubhub and it's quite expensive, but it might be the normal price. Also any recommendations on places to take the kids they are 12 and 10, any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Andy
Stubhub is usually reliable enough - you'll find tickets will be expensive partly for logistics (only around 18,000) & partly due to their recent improved fortunes. Cheapest tickets I can see on Ticketmaster are $80 before fees and that's way in the gods in the corner. I'll add that's for a game against the Minnesota Wild, if half-term is around the second week of February you'll run into some REALLY expensive games. (General rule of thumb, anything against local rivals or "original six" teams will be "premium" game pricing.)
As for where to take the kids, I'm not clued up on that but I'm sure other posters can give you hints & tips for that.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
We are going to be there April 1st - 8th and are looking for a reasonable priced hotel close to some attractions. Midtown or Manhattan or in that sort of area. Anyone can recommend somewhere ? If there is breakfast then it will be good otherwise somewhere close we can take the kids to brekkie.0

I stayed in the Marriott Courtyard on 31st St, on the corner of 7th Avenue. It was reasonably priced, the location was great, and I had no complaints. Would definitely go back. It was a few blocks from the Empire State Building and next to Madison square gardens.0

I have been to the US before so have a current ESTA, it does run out in March. So first question is, if I go in March should I renew before I go if it runs out while I am there and 2nd question the two people I am going with have never been before and I see advice on getting the ESTA before booking a holiday just in case you are refused an ESTA (not likely to happen in their case, but you never know) but the ESTA looks like it needs an address and date of travel, which we don't know until we get the ESTA. So how do we apply, what do we put down?Paddle No 21 :wave:0

If you want a cheaper ice hockey experience, cross the bridge into Brooklyn and go and see the Islanders. We went over New Year as the Rangers were charging $65+ a ticket and instead paid $25 each to watch the Islanders. You can buy tickets direct from their website and we collected when we arrived. Was a simple subway from Times Square and was our favourite night of the trip!0 -

Always use Newark as family live on the New Jersey side, Travel into the city for days out, shows etc but always shop on the New Jersey side as no sales tax on shoes and clothes.0
