We are staying near the Empire State Building. Can anyone recommend somewhere reasonably upmarket (I'm thinking bellini's!) for brunch on a Saturday morning, which isn't too far?
Thank you!
You can of course get brunch pretty much anywhere in NYC, but the nature of it means that the most recommended places tend to be in more residential areas such as West Village and Brooklyn. If you are staying near the ESB, it's probably easier to go downtown to the Village, Chelsea, Gramercy Park etc. There is a recent Timeout guide to brunch which may help you

If you want to go to Rockefeller Center, you could try Brasserie Ruhlmann. I've never had brunch there, only lunch, but good food, nice Art Deco ambience (not that cheap). However, not certain they do brunch on Saturday, may only be Sundays. Places in the residential areas likely to offer it both days.0 -
I am hoping that you good people can help me, I have a trip booked for the end of March next year, but will not be certain that we are going until DH cardiologist gives him the OK to fly, we see him in a weeks time (we should have gone last Easter for my 50th but he was not allowed to fly
, we had no idea until January that he even had a heart condition, which he has apparently had for over 20 years  we only rebooked because our flights were with united and they give you a grace period to rebook - which I did because we weren't aware at that time the extent of his condition, but he had surgery 3 months ago and is so much better).
If we go I want to do something that we would never normally have done or afforded, this whole year has totally changed my outlook on life, we were planning on a Broadway show anyway and the usual tourist attractions but I am looking for something that little bit special that I could give him as a gift (maybe part of Christmas) but I have searched and am really stuck, I obviously wouldn't book anything yet or until a bit nearer but could make up a gift certificate to give him, so I am really looking for some ideas from all you wonderful people, so that I am prepared (sorry I hate leaving things to the last minute)

Thank you greenface, some lovely ideas, I had not even considered renewing our vows, but after the year we have had, this could be a wonderful thing for us to do, will definitely look into this. Thank youFibro-Warrior0

If anyone is looking for a nice, clean and welcoming hotel midtown then the Seton on E40th is great. Was there in Nov.
The rooms are small though. The welcome was brilliant. There is an outside area for having coffee and stuff (weather permitting!) You can bring in your own drinks and order in food if you are wrecked after a day on the pavements. Front desk will sort it for you.
There is a coffee and tea station free 24/7 plus an ice machine.
It is a short enough walk to Empire State, Rockefeller, 5th Ave. 42nd Street and so on. The neighbourhood is called Murray Hill and there is a deli and a bar on every corner.
BUT, if you decide to go there make sure you choose premium room (own bathroom), as there are shared bathrooms there too. We met lots of people (US mostly) who were using the shared bathrooms and they were given free bathrobes and slippers to do the deed! No complaints.
Rates are very good for midtown.

I'm just recently back from another amazing trip to NYC and stayed at the Sheraton TriBeCa. Amazing area, would love to stay around there again, loads of nice places to eat, beside eclectic shopping, and lovely bars.
I'm looking to go back again for thanksgiving next year with my children, this time for 7 nights. Can anyone recommend where to search for accomodation as doing a package for 7 nights seems to be working out a lot more expensive than pricing it separately. Thanks.0
