Hi, love this thread. Can someone please recommend a hotel for a family of four that has a hotel suite? We are travelling with young children that in the evening they can sleep and we can just relax and watch some tv without disturbing them. At the moment, all I can find is Affina Dumont...any others? Many thanks xxx0

We have booked the Best Western Hospitality House in Midtown East for us and our 2 teenage sons. They have 1-bedroom ad 2-bedroom suites with a full kitchen and living room and breakfast included. Not cheap in the summer but prices vary depending on when you go. You can book directly on their website and, if you are a member of the AA you can book the AAA rate which is cheaper.0

Just checked our dates for May and it will be just above £3k
Thanks for the suggestion though x0 -
can highly recommend the hotel Holiday Inn Express, Wall Street
very, very central for a number of local tourist spots, all within walking distance e.g. Staten island ferry, SOL, 911/WTC, Brooklyn Bridge plus quite a few others
several subway stations all within a short distance
we paid just under £100 per night recently (Feb 14-18)0 -
I have stayed in a suite at the Affinia Shelburne last May. It was HUGE! The service was great, so if the Dumont is in your price range I think I would be booking it!
(they upgraded us to a suite, and we got a bottle of wine waiting for us arrival!):T0 -
Do all you experts think that the Edison would be a good hotel for first-time visitors to NY for a 3 night stay (Fri/Sat/Sun) in November? It looks to be in the centre of things, which is what we'd like and not too expensive.
Any thoughts welcome.0 -
O gosh ..... Some experts will say yes and some experts will say no !
Apart from our very first visit back in 1997 ish , we have always stayed in hotels around the Times square area including the Edison. The couple of times we have stayed there it was Ok ! The Crowne Plaza is nice and in 13 weeks time we are giving the Hilton Garden Inn 790 and 8th a try. This will be our 15th visit.
Times square works for us as we enjoy the hustle and bustle and there are plenty of subway stations on hand. We breakfast in the Cafe Edison and night cap in O'Lunneys Irish bar as we are friends with owner and always get looked after !!!
Other people on this forum prefer not to stay around TS which I can understand, but it is so easy to travel around NYC on the subway or bus.

Is it normal that our hotel has not yet taken money out of our account even though we paid in January. Or do they take it once you've stayed?0

Hi,
I am trying to figure out if I can afford to go to New York! How much money do you think you would need for meals in NYC? Probably middle of the road nothing too fancy but nothing too cheap either? thinking about staying for 7 nights and would like to enjoy without penny pinching but yet not splurging!
Thanks0
