I'm going to New York in May, was going to be the 12th-16th but it seems slightly cheaper to go on Sunday 11th-15th.

Found a deal on Expedia return flights with Delta at decent times Heathrow to JFK and staying at the Edison with a Queen bed for £1054. Is that a good deal? Similar ones on Expedia seem to be at least £200 more and I want to stay near Broadway/Times Square as I'm travelling by myself and don't want to have to travel far by myself late at night as I'll be at the theatre a lot.

The only problem I have is that I can't pay for it until end of March so have contacted Expedia to see if they'll let me split payment. If I'm unable to, has anyone booked a trip about 6 weeks in advance for similar costs for that time of year?

    Hello
Yes I always book later (last 4 trips) - the last time was a week before. Have you priced up hotel and accommodation separately?

Edit - Any reason why you are not including a saturday night? as tends to be cheaper

Hi there, I'm looking to book a holiday to New York during June/July, but I'm looking for a few pointers if that's ok?

There's myself, my partner and 15 year old son, we're travelling from Glasgow and looking to stay for roughly 2 weeks.

I've found flights for £565 each on one of the flight checker sites (Can't remember which now:o) for 22th June - 6th July, is this reasonable? We're flexible on dates and can travel any time in June/July.

I've been looking at hotels/apartments in Jersey City, as I think it'll be too expensive to stay in Manhattan for the whole time, but the prices seem similar. Can anyone recommend anywhere else to stay? We're happy to stay outside the city and travel in for day trips.

We'll spend most of our time exploring all the usual tourist sites plus museums, sporting events etc.

Also, will there be much for us to do at night time in the city with a 15 year old?

    Thanks.:)

    Hello
Difficult to say really. Have you tried to contact the manager? You'll be able to find out his name and email address usually via trip advisor.

    Have you booked your flights?

I have done a search via Ba just in case (they are my go to site when comparing prices - sorry) prices are pp for the same dates 27th March - 1st April out early and back late.

    Holiday inn Soho £701
    Double Tree by Hilton £734
    Holiday Inn Midtown £742
    Intercontinental Barclay £750
    Marcel at Gramercy £752

Let us know how you get on - happy to help

    Hi BB,

Thanks for your help. Tribeca just got back to me and have said they are happy to pricematch for the dates 26th - 31st March so we're going ahead. Just need to book flights now.

The Queen Superiors are interior rooms with no views to outside as I understand it, is this true?

    Hiya
Ah thats fab. Think Mark will be able to answer re rooms. Although a room with a view is rare in NYC unless you pay a premium/make special request. Out of 5 trips I have had an amazing few in 1 hotel only.

Woo hoo! So excited for you - get those flights booked!

Sorry did I misunderstand.. do the rooms have windows?

Just this little snippet looks amazing http://www.thompsonhotels.com/hotels/nyc/smyth-tribeca/sleep/queen-superior

    Great price!! :)

Edit - How much are your flights as note the date change
  • Tripadvisor seems to indicate that Queen Superior rooms do not have windows and are internally facing and this seems to have been confirmed by management in a response to a review. Don't mind if we don't have a great view just would be nice to see outside, even if it is straight onto the street.

We are looking at between £4-500 for flights, so all in just over £1200 for the both of us.
  • Hiya looking for bit of advice.Im planning trip to New York around mid-Jan all very last minute but some good deals about and was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at either sleep inn or best western in long island? and how safe the area really is,i have read the reviews on TA and still unsure.

    Hi ya

    Was this the review response?

'It sounds like you booked a queen superior room with us which can be located on the interior of the hotel. Many repeat guests prefer these as they are larger than the ones located on the exterior, however you do loose some natural light'

I would have thought all rooms would need to have a window for health and safety etc.. for this room it was very small and facing a wall.. (I have been in a similar position, the view was so bad I drew the blinds back down ha ha).

Its a difficult one. But I really hope you have a great time. It does look like a really nice hotel. And hopefully you will be spending a lot of time in the city or maybe in the bar ;)

Have you paid in full with the hotel?
You could book another as a back up (if you haven't paid) if you are unsure?
You could also email some people on Trip advisor who have stayed in the Queen Superior rooms for more information?

    Any advice Mark?

I have heard late august gets cooler. I have been end of July was really humid, rained a bit then was the perfect temperature. I love NYC even more in the summer.

What is your budget from where and how many people and dates etc?

Thanks for that. I want to go at a different time of year for a wee change since i've been there during Jan, Feb, Mar, May, Jun - i thought that i would stay at a different time and late august is coming out cheapest.

It's for 2 people and we are flexible on dates between August-Oct. We want to fly direct from Glasgow and stay in midtown area. The deal that we have seen so far is £1444 (per person) from Aug 24th-31st at Le Parker Meridien for 7 nights. My husband's only preference is the midtown area and four star stay minimum since it will be for our wedding anniversary. It's unreal how many hotels are 4* and really aren't when you see some pics of the places!
