Additionally, you will get Virgin points on Delta now, as they codeshare and are partners.

Isn't it the case that you can only earn Virgin points if you book through Virgin if your flight is Delta.
If you book through anybody else, say on Delta website then no points.
Same with BA points if flying on AA or other way around.
I genuinely don't know so would love to find out.

I'm looking at AA to NY in June to go to Canadian F1.
I would like to earn BA points but the same flight is £60 less on AA website right now.

I've read t & c's but it looks to me like I have to book through BA to earn points?

This link suggests you can earn virgin miles on a delta flight

With regard to BA I'm sure you are right, you need to book via BA to earn avios. Have you thought about maybe starting to earn some AAdvantage points too?

I don't know what the BA/AA Arrangment is, but any flight I book on Delta's website allows me to choose my mileage partner. Virgin is there as an option, and you can earn Virgin Points on a Delta flight.
  • I emailed the Tribeca with a screengrab of the quote on Hotels4U asking if they can pricematch it on Saturday. They haven't got back to me yet, so I asked on Twitter and they have asked for my details to get in touch.

Since then the quote has gone up to to £587. However since I still have the screengrab of the lower price how likely is it that they will honour the lower price if they agree to pricematch?

Eugh, typical! Finally in a position where I now know that I can afford to go to NYC next year and the prices i found in November have all shot up so with the new calculations, I need to go back to the drawing board.

Has anyone been in the last week in August? I've read up about temps and humity but how bad is bad? Is it unbearable or more uncomfortable. We've been in June when it was hotter than usual if that's any comparison.

Yes, we have been collecting points with AA, BA, Virgin and Delta.
With us always shopping around for deals rather than being loyal to one airline sometimes we lose our accumulated points which is what happened this year with AA.
We had a lot of BMI points from using them repeatedly for Chicago and Las Vegas which were transferred to BA Executive points when BMI stopped.
So right this minute we want to keep our points going with Virgin and same with BA.
Ironically, the one thing points programs do to keep you flying with them ie you lose your points if not flying with them for a period has worked against AA this time.
If they hadn't disappeared our points we would be more likely to fly AA, but it looks like booking Delta with Virgin chosen as mileage partner is favourite now.
Not really that clued up collecting points as we usually just pick the cheapest non-stop fare.

Thanks for replying, and M4RKM also.

    Hello
Difficult to say really. Have you tried to contact the manager? You'll be able to find out his name and email address usually via trip advisor.

    Have you booked your flights?

I have done a search via Ba just in case (they are my go to site when comparing prices - sorry) prices are pp for the same dates 27th March - 1st April out early and back late.

    Holiday inn Soho £701
    Double Tree by Hilton £734
    Holiday Inn Midtown £742
    Intercontinental Barclay £750
    Marcel at Gramercy £752

Let us know how you get on - happy to help

I have heard late august gets cooler. I have been end of July was really humid, rained a bit then was the perfect temperature. I love NYC even more in the summer.

What is your budget from where and how many people and dates etc?
  • I'm going to New York in May, was going to be the 12th-16th but it seems slightly cheaper to go on Sunday 11th-15th.

Found a deal on Expedia return flights with Delta at decent times Heathrow to JFK and staying at the Edison with a Queen bed for £1054. Is that a good deal? Similar ones on Expedia seem to be at least £200 more and I want to stay near Broadway/Times Square as I'm travelling by myself and don't want to have to travel far by myself late at night as I'll be at the theatre a lot.

The only problem I have is that I can't pay for it until end of March so have contacted Expedia to see if they'll let me split payment. If I'm unable to, has anyone booked a trip about 6 weeks in advance for similar costs for that time of year?
