    Hi

@bb69 - Its all there, just added the last day and wrapped it up. You need to click at the bottom right to go on to the next pages, there are currently 4 pages there.

@vanilla8 - The location is perfect. We had a deluxe room which had a great big bathroom, in room tea, coffee, safe. Only the deluxe room have these. If your cool with that, then thats fine. the hotel do offer a cheapo upgrade to deluxe if you do it before you arrive, its double on the day, worth it IMO. Think it was 25$ a night in advance.

Ah was a great trip report. Thanks.

Sorry M4RK, I always forget something!

Looking at end of March beginning of April for 2 people (me and my partner). So about £1500 all in. Breakfast and transfers we know are often seperate so that's OK.

The hotels within our price range that we've been looking at are:

Marmara Manhattan (although I've heard lots of subway construction at the moment).
The Seton (apparently nasty rooms, unpleasant clienetele)
Bowery Banbee (but heard Chinatown isn't very nice???
Jolly Madison Towers (same criticisms as Seton)

In your opinion are those criticisms fair?

Also slightly over budget but possibly affordable are King and Grove, The Franklin and Affinia Dumont.

It's our first time to NYC do want to be able to do most of the touristy things, go shopping and have some great food.

Check out Ba.com they have a sale on at the moment. With prices in the £700+ region

I have stayed at Marmara and 5 years ago today I was there..! The subway work started 5 years ago. Was lovely (noise from subway didn't affect us as holidays although there was traffic noise in the early hours of the morning) and for me, far out east 92nd and 2nd avenue. Although they will be opening another hotel on Park Avenue soon.

King and Grove Manhattan is nice (I wouldn't stay again) Affinia Dumont is very nice with added kitchen which is handy.

Thanks Dash, i may ring up and see about the upgrade. Not having a safe in the room worries me!

We got a good deal for the trip - £1200 with BA. This will be our 5th trip back (we got married there in 2010)

I love New York :j Thanks for your trip report

Hi vanilla, they have a safe room thing near reception where you can put stuff. Just a bind to wait for people to let you in.

i would also email the hotel, not ring them. The front desk (what you get through to) dont like to deal with reservations, they pass you to NH-hotels central booking number. I got the upgrade direct from the hotel.

I paid a similar amount (a little less) through the BA sale too.

How about no longer being masochistic?
    How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

Thanks for that. We're looking through Expedia as even once we've added all the extras that Expedia don't on it still works out cheaper than the BA sale for the same hotels.

Is Expedia OK to book through?
  • expedia is fine, have booked a trip with them before, and have booked vegas with them too

Ah what extras if you don't mind me asking? Are your flight times good? early out and late leaving NYC (if that suits you)

We can pick the earliest possible flight out and the latest flight back for £30 extra whereas BA wanted nearly £70 extra. We can add £26 for transfers in a minibus BA wanted £50. The priced Expedia quoted include all fees and taxes. Unsure as to whether we get baggage included in the price.

Hi - do you mind letting me know your dates? have you also tried pricing up separately?

Re the transfers is this £26pp return?

The Expedia sale ends 31st March for travel dates. So we want the very last 6 days/5 nights of March as the price shoots up first week of April. 26th March - 31st April.

Yes that is the return tranfer price per person. We want to fly Virgin preferably as we can get points with them.
