OMG DO NOT DO THE SHUTTLE TRANSFER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Complete rip off at that price too. £26 per person, is £52. That works out to be $83.20, and a Yellow Taxi, fixed fee, plus toll and tip works out to be $70 from JFK.
Don't get sucked into extras that are not worth it. Also, look at Delta for flights, cheaper than BA normally, more legroom, and a similar schedule.
I would book that Smyth Tribeca deal. It's an awesome hotel, great location, and I can tell you where to get breakfast for around $4 each.
Delta have flights for those dates for £815.70 for economy, or you could add on Economy Comfort seating for 30pp per way, making a total of £935, so still under your £750 budget per person, and the rest you can either get a taxi with, or if you really want to save, get the Subway to the hotel, which is only $7.25 each.
Additionally, you will get Virgin points on Delta now, as they codeshare and are partners.0 -
Hi
the hotel do offer a cheapo upgrade to deluxe if you do it before you arrive, its double on the day, worth it IMO. Think it was 25$ a night in advance.

Jolly Madison Towers have quoted me $50 a night plus tax, think i'll skip the upgrade, wont be in the room that much anyway0 -

Really? Was that from the hotel direct?
We got offered 40$ on the day or $20 in advance. I worked out that was £50 over my 4 night stay, and it was worth it IMO. Lots of people complaining about room in reception and in the lift.
Your call, just trying to help.
Editted to add... I did it through the BA call centre if you are interested, thats how I did it cheaper than your quote.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -
I emailed the hotel direct this morning and yes they came back to me with $50 a night plus tax.
I would like to upgrade but cant justify that much.
Shall i try through BA?0 -

Thinking of going with the Smyth Tribeca deal with Virgin flights at £450 each.
If you book your flights with Virgin through Expedia is baggage included?0 -
*confused*
Why would you pay book Virgin via Expedia. Virgin themselves are the same price, however Delta are cheaper.
Delta own 49% of Virgin therefore you still get your miles.
Booking Virgin directly through Virgin's own website is £447.85
Booking Delta through Delta's own website is £407.85.
Your budget is so tight, I can't see why you wouldn't go with Delta, and save the £80 and spend it on a nice meal when you're out in NYC. You will still get Virgin Miles, the earliest flight out is 9:40am, 10 mins after the Virgin departure, the latest flight back with Delta is 10:30 pm, which is 1 hour after the Virgin departure, therefore giving you a net 50 minutes longer in NYC.
Baggage is always included in transatlantic flights, 1 bag, 23KG.0 -

I entered in the wrong return date for Virgin and it was coming back £100 more expensive than Expedia (unsurprisingly!), but now with correct dates, it is the same price.
I've had a look at Delta too, so we'll fly with either those 2.
I have emailed the Tribeca to see if they can match the price should we book directly, so waiting on their response. If it all works out, we're good to go!
I'll have to take you up on the offer of suggestions for cheap breakfasts!0
