Flying tomorrow to JFK on AA, flight arrival is 9.55pm, there's an LIRR train from Jamaica to Penn at 11.42pm, if the flight is on time, do you think we'll make the 11.42?
So, 10pm, through immigration, get luggage, through customs, lets factor that to be an hour. Then from T8 you've got a 10 minute walk to the Airtrain, 11:10pm, 10 minute wait for an airtrain (sods law), and 15 mins for the trip, you'll just about make it.
That above, is what I'd class as worst case scenario, you can help yourself by ensuring you're sitting towards the front of economy class, and then walking fast to the immigration queue so you're at the front of your plane, This could save 30 minutes quite easily, but depends what the queues are like in the first place.

If it runs smoothly and your plane takes off & lands on time yes . So normally Yes . But SODs law . Have a plan B
I'm being petty here, but taking off on time has nothing to do with it. As a transatlantic flight, it could gain time with the jetstreams etc, so theoretically, could take off around half an hour late, catch up time over the atlantic, and still land on time.. landing on time is the important one.
Another thing, you could land around 30 minutes late, if there is no queue for immigration..
Yeah, it's 3:30am and I can't sleep.. I have to keep myself amused somehow..

Hi all. Was just wondering what is best to do regards money when visiting New york.We go on the 8th of August for 4 nights all booked hotel chose off reccomends on this forum. I am back know to sort out where and what we should be doing "Things to see" We are 2 adults and one brand new 18 year old "on the 6th August", so any ideas would be good or a link to the relevent thread.
Money. When we go on hols normally eg: Spain and the like I generally just get money exchanged to euros over here and then take a bunch of english money along and change if needed.
Needless to say this maybe wrong. Is this the thing to do with my NY trip. I usually have cash at home which I save up for hols so this seems the best way for me but would like to know if I am losing out doing this or if in fact there is a better way.

Just aplied for the Clarity card (accepted) as this seems to be what is reccomended on here. So am I right in thinking I should get some pounds exchanged for dollars here lets say £800 and then just use the card to withdraw at ATM's in New york.

Why not just pay for everything on card. We (2 of us) did Boston, NYC and DC in 10 days, and only had about $300 in cash. Everything went on the CC. Even the cabs accept cc. We just had small bills for things under $10.
Saves carrying around a huge amount of money.:T0 -
I am trying to confirm the best way of minimising ATM fees in New York when using a Metro Bank debit card.
There is the FreeATM at Barclays Center if you happen to be in the area and there are the McDonald’s ATMs which only charge a fee of $0.99. However, I have heard conflicting reports about whether a fee is charged when using ATMs at TD Bank and Chase. Do any Metro Bank customers have any recent first-hand experience of using either of these banks’ ATMs and can confirm either way?0
