Totally undecided now on Manhatten, LIC or Brooklyn.... I'm going backwards not forwards. On a positive note, two LIC hotels have come back to me and offered a 10% discount off their best price
I've stayed numerous times in both Manhattan and Brooklyn, but depending on location, it depends whether it is a good place to visit. Never stayed in LIC, only a few places I go in Queens overall, and then most of it is Brooklyn or Below 14th Street, so for me it isn't a great location.
Let me know what hotels you're looking at and I'll give you my rather Brooklyn biased opinion.

Helllllloooo  :T
You know there's some kind of irony about a short break to NYC from the UK when you're moving to FL, right?? Just saying
What have you done before?? Just so we don't tell you things you've already done.0 -

He he I know!!! It was a competition win so a freebie
We have done the usual touristy things, Empire State, hop on/off bus tour/ Statue of Libery, GZ, Wall Street, Times Sq etc.
Included in our prize is a evening boat cruise meal thingy and a 1 hour carriage tour in central park.

I've been to NYC lat year and got engaged in Times Square!
We have now decided to elope to NYC in about 2.5 years ( a year after being debt free) with just our 2 children.
What with having no guests we don't want a lavish hotel do, but do want a nice looking place to get married and then a really restaurant to go to afterwards
Any advice?0 -
someone here has recently got married over in the apple so they might return to this with their knowledge . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Any excuse :rotfl:
Stuff we did and enjoyed that you've not listed above: Top of the Rock - far preferred to ESB; Greenwich Village (did a food tour - fantastic); wandering around SoHo; Chinatown
Stuff we've not done but want to: Walk Brooklyn Bridge; the High Line; tenement museum (recommended on here as we are staying in LES)0 -
Ok this is what I am currently looking at and my thoughts:
LIC - Z hotel, concern is that its not that close to a metro and area doesnt look the best
Sanctuary Guest house - looks good and decent price, like the idea of having a kitchenette. However, not sure on location, distance from nearest metro
Tribeca Blu - no concerns really, reviews tend to say its noisy
BMP brooklyn - possibly a little too far out of manhatten?
HOward Johnson soho
wyndham grd china town
Ravel - LIC - only about £700 for the week - great price....but any catches?
Stay Smart Midtown, these look like a good deal and location seems good
LIC - alot of the location seem to be light industrial, i know i cant have everything for the cash i have to spend but i feel i want to be able to walk out the hotel and be able to nip to a coffee shop etc
Brooklyn - any advice on the area would be great, the hotels i can afford seem to be further awayPoorMoon

Are they all about the same price? If so I would choose one of the hotels in Manhattan over LIC, particularly as neither of the LIC properties you've picked look particularly close to the subway which is the main advantage to staying there. If you post the prices you've found it might be easier for people to give feedback on which is the best value or suggest any better alternatives.0

Thanks, they were all similar prices £1200 and below but I will get them up again and post.
I've seen a lot that you can book now but then they have a free cancellation. Was thinking of doing that cos if they end up coming down then i could changePoorMoon
