Thank you for the correction M4RKM.
So my post above should have said:
A novel way to get to the Staten Island ferry would be to get the M34 bus down 34th Street as far East as it goes and then get the East River Ferry down to Wall Street Pier (pier 11). Then it's just a short walk to the Staten Island ferry. The East River ferry timetable can be found via Google.
(There is a free shuttle bus that runs down part of 34th Street to the ferry terminal but the one we got was like you see being used to transport prisoners in the movies. The M34 bus stops at fewer stops than most buses. You have to obtain a ticket at the bus stop before boarding. You can use a 7 day metro pass to get a the M34 ticket. The East River Ferry costs $4).0 -
Can anyone recommend a good place to eat near Madison Square Garden?0

Hello,
I think I have decided on getting the tube / metro / underground, what ever its called in New York, the R line from 34th street, down to the Staten Island Ferry and then getting the s61 or s44 to the Mall.
Hopefull I should be able to manage that! Although I have been known to get lost on the London Underground! lol
If I get a metro card would I be able to use it for the journey part in Staten Island?Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -

Nope.. It's the SubwayTube is London, Underground is London, Metro is Paris, or other cities.. It's weird, that different cities call their mass transit different things, but in NYC it is kinda important. There is a line that heads into Connecticut that is called the Metro North, so if you ask for the Metro, you could potentially be directed to that. Underground/Tube - most people will guess, but Subway is the term that makes life easier....

Yes, you've got that right, however, just to give you some helpful hints, this is how I'd write it down.
From 34th Street Herald Square, take a Downtown R train heading towards and get off at Whitehall Street, South Ferry. From there, exit the Subway and head into the Ferry Terminal.
Once you're on Staten Island, you'll get either bus, the S44 stop is right outside the ferry terminal, (use google streetview / maps to get an idea).
Your MetroCard is good for every Subway / and most Buses (not Express, but this is OK) within New York City, so you're absolutely fine using your MetroCard on the MTA bus on Staten Island.

What food do you want, what price do you want to pay, what kind of quality of food are you looking for?
Absolutely anything really! Though it's for a pre-knicks game bite so probably nothing fancy, and it will be early evening. I know theres lots round that area just wondered if anyone knows somewhere they particularly like.0 -

Actually, I'll be looking to rent a 2bed/2bath apartment in Bow, London in the next few weeks. Any advice?0
