    Hi

I work in TV so would be interested in viewing any TV/film attractions/sites
My DD loved seeing New York Public Library (42nd & 5th, not far from Grand Central) featured in many movies, including The Day After Tomorrow and Sex and The City (where Carrie gets stood up by Big at their wedding)

Top of the Rock is just going to the top of the Rockerfeller Center (centre)has a better viewing gallery than ESB less queues than ESB Once up there you can see 2 things that you cannot see from the ESB . First is Central park clearly and the second is the ESB itself and a great photo . Google top of the rock for more info. Madame Tussards - I am not a great TV/Film & American sports buff so i went to the NASdaq to watch a match while my OH & DDs went . They said it was good but going from the photos i didnt know many only Will Smith or was it Morgan Freeman. Not done the highline but is on my bucket list . (highline ,apollo & lfc.nyc) There is often a good show/band at BB Kings Blues Bar. Always a good time .

Lulu is on the 16th - http://www.bbkingblues.com/calendar.php that will float both your boats some great rock/blues music

    Hi

I’m keen to go to a cinema and maybe tie it in with a meal or drinks – I work in TV so would be interested in viewing any TV/film attractions/sites – however this isn’t a necessity. We do, of course, also want to shop.

Try the Nitehawk cinema in Brooklyn - cool cinema where you can have dinner/drinks during the film..

How about any of the TV tours? Sex & the city? I did the Sopranos one and it was very good.

A Suite? Is it at a legal hotel or an illegal apartment rental?

You really need to give a monkey's if it is an illegal apartment rental (I can't find any hotels on that street), as you could end up on the street with no accommodation, no recourse for a refund, and having to spend even more money on something legal.

Get something legal, I've listed many hotels that are available at a more budget price, so people don't have to break the law.

It's called the Riverside Tower check it out

    Perfectly legal thank you.

I've stayed there before so know what I'm getting, basic accommodation but as we're out from 9am until 5am who needs boutique hotels.

If your looking for a decent Irish bar near where your staying [i think i stayed in the same place last March], the try 'The Parlour' at 250 west 86th st. [search the parlour NY on the net]

Had a great time there last year with music on the Thursday night, friday night, all day/night saturday and during the day on the Sunday.

The food and atmosphere there is excellent and the owner was one of the nicest, most hospitible men we've ever met and really made us feel at home.

If you happen to go there say hi to John, from the Welsh boys [and 1 Irish!] from last Paddies day :)

Unbelievable! The Parlour is the reason we stay in the neighbourhood, we begin and end our nights there. Great place with an unbelievable atmosphere.

    I'll say hi for sure!

We only spend 4-5 hours in every 24 in the hotel, more of a crash pad so it seems daft to waste money on an expensive luxury hotel for so little time spent there.

It makes me laugh when people demand this and demand that from their hotels when going to New York, YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN YOUR HOTEL it's the best city in the world for crying out loud get out there.

I agree with M4RKM, I always make a point of insisting that any hotel I stay in is at least the same standard as my home. I stayed in one (In UK) where they refused to put the heating on before 6pm - in November! And even then, there was no heater in the bathroom. I complained vigorously and got a small refund, then cancelled the rest of my stay and went to a better (warm) hotel. I now always research the hotel as much as possible and if I'm just pitching up there I ask to see the rooms before I book in. And people dont just "spend a few hours" in hotels, you sleep in the beds, wash in the bathrooms, walk on the carpets, often eat in the dining rooms. If its a low standard hotel then these activities could be uncomfortable to say the least
